Re: Demolition of a.Cottage and Shed at 31 Old Assembly-Point-Road
To whom it may concern:
My wife and I purchased 31 Old Assembly Point Road in July 2020. During the
review process; the seller disclosed the fact that an issue had. recently occurred
with the Town of Queensbury concerning the status of the cottage. The matter
was resolved by the then owner agreeing to remove the kitchen appliances so that
the cottage could no longer be used as a dwelling unit. Accordingly, the cottage
was not available for rental purposes and therefore had little or no value.
After closing, I contacted the Town and reviewed the Town's demolition process.
As required by the Town, I contacted National Grid and arranged to have the power
to the cottage terminated. Thereafter, (.entered into an agreement with Expert
Environmental & Construction Group to do an asbestos survey. The cost of the -
asbestos report was nearly$31000. Based on a very large number of samples it was.
determined that there was no asbestos at the cottage except a fraction of a percent
over the limit in some older window glazing.
I hired a contractor to remove the windows in question, the asbestos report was
updated-and a clean report was issued by Expert Environmental & Construction. I
am advised that the small number of windows removed were properly disposed at
a landfill.
I respectfully request that a demolition permit per be issued by the Town so that
the cottage and shed can demolished.
Thank you for your assistance.
Very truly yours
