All installations appear to be in conformance with generally accepted welding and construction practices and are acceptable to this office. As discussed the viewing platform is going to have plexiglass panels installed in the guard rail openings to provide for fall protection. This is meant to be installed in the next few days. The new foundation will utilize 10" concrete masonry units with#4 vertical reinforcing bars at 4'-0" o.c. with fully grouted cores at reinforcing locations and durawall horizontal reinforcing at each horizontal course. The contractor also indicated he intends to pour the footing at 10" x 20" with the 2" dust cap slab poured integral to the footings so that all cast concrete work can be done at one time. Additionally, during the construction of the viewing platform for the go-kart track it was discovered that the door between the existing upper level where the party rooms are located-and the new viewing platform would need to be raised 21"to allow for the required 8' headroom below the viewing platform. This requires the addition of 3 risers and 2 treads into the existing space which are indicated on the upper level plan. The handrails and guard rails will be constructed for this stair similar to the rails for the main stair as indicated on the plan. If there are any questions please call to discuss. Final detailing has not been completed. Location of structural members may change during detailing. Any change to building loads or dimensions can change structural member sizes and locations shown here. This structural design data will be superseded and voided by any future mailing. Please check with your Star Builder Service Representative. 2) The reactions provided with this engineering data or with the F (anchor bolt) drawings has been created with the following layout(unless noted otherwise). a) Reactions are provided in two tables. The"Load Group"table provides the reactions for each load group. The"Maximum Reaction"table provides the maximum reactions for gravity, wind, and earthquake (seismic) load combinations that were used in the design of the anchor bolts. b) Rigid Frames (1) Gabled Buildings (a) Left and Right columns are determined as if viewing the left side of the building, as shown on the anchor bolt drawing, from the outside of the building. (b) Interior columns are spaced from left side to right side. (2) Single Slope Buildings (a) Left column is the low side column. (b) Right column is the high side column. (c) Interior columns are spaced from low side to high side. c) Endwalls (1) Left and Right columns are determined as if viewing the wall from the outside. (2) Interior columns are spaced from left to right. d) Anchor bolt size is determined by shear and tension at the bottom of the base plate. Bolt spacing will generally require the use of a bearing angle, or other means of shear transfer to the concrete. The length of the anchor bolt and method of load transfer to the foundation are to be determined by the foundation engineer. e) X-Bracing (1) Rod Bracing reactions have been included in values shown in the reaction tables. (2) For IBC and UBC based building codes, when x-bracing is present in the sidewall, individual longitudinal seismic loads (LEQ)do not include the amplification factor, S2o. (3) For IBC and UBC based building codes, when x-bracing is present in the endwall, individual transverse seismic loads (EQ)do not include the amplification factor, Q0. co,r 6bj t? au L ' WFM 4/27/0 8600S. Outdoor-air supply systems with design airflow rates>3,000 cfm of outdoor air and all exhaust systems must have dampers that are automatically closed while the equipment is not operating. 7. The system must supply outside ventilation air as required by Chapter 4 of the Mechanical Code for New York State. If the ventilation system is designed to supply outdoor-air quantities exceeding minimum required levels, the system must be capable of reducing outdoor-air flow to the minimum required levels. 8. Air ducts must be insulated to the following levels:a)Supply and return air ducts for conditioned air located in unconditioned spaces(spaces neither heated nor cooled)must be insulated with a minimum of R-5.Unconditioned spaces include attics, crawl spaces, unheated basements, and unheated garages.b)Supply and return air ducts and plenums must be insulated to a Building Addition-Go-Kart Adventure Racing Page 8 of 9 minimum of R-8 when located outside the building.c)When ducts are located within exterior components(e.g.,floors or roofs), minimum R-8 insulation is required only between the duct and the building exterior. - Exception:Duct insulation is not required on ducts located within equipment. - Exception:Duct insulation is not required when the design temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the ' duct or plenum does not exceed 15 degrees F. 9. All joints, longitudinal and transverse seams, and connections in ductwork must be securely sealed using weldments; mechanical fasteners with seals, gaskets,or mastics;mesh and mastic sealing systems;or tapes.Tapes and mastics must be listed and labeled in accordance with UL 181A or UL 181 B. 10. Mechanical fasteners and seals, mastics,or gaskets must be used when connecting ducts to fans and other air distribution equipment, including multiple-zone terminal units. 11. All pipes serving space-conditioning systems must be insulated as follows:Hot water piping for heating systems:1 in.for pipes 1 1/2-in.nominal diameter 2 in.for pipes>1 1/2-in.nominal diameter.Chilled water, refrigerant, and brine piping systems:1 in.insulation for pipes1 1/2-in.nominal diameter 1 1/2 in.insulation for pipes>1 1/2-in.nominal diameter.Steam piping:1 1/2 in.insulation for pipes1 1/2-in.nominal diameter 3 in.insulation for pipes>1 1/2-in.nominal diameter. - Exception:Pipe insulation is not required for factory-installed piping within HVAC equipment. - Exception:Pipe insulation is not required for piping that conveys fluids having a design operating temperature range between 55 degrees F and 105 degrees F. - Exception:Pipe insulation is not required for piping that conveys fluids that have not been heated or cooled through the use of fossil fuels or electric power.- - Exception:Pipe insulation is not required for runout piping not exceeding 4 ft in length and 1 in.in diameter between•the control valve and HVAC coil. 12. Operation and maintenance documentation must be provided to the owner that includes at least the following information:a) equipment capacity(input and output)and required maintenance actionsb)equipment operation and maintenance manualsc) HVAC system control maintenance and calibration information, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and control sequence descriptions;desired or field-determined set points must be permanently recorded on control drawings,at control devices,or, for digital control systems,in programming commentsd)complete narrative of how each system is intended to operate. 13. Each supply air outlet or diffuser and each zone terminal device(such as VAV or mixing box)must have its own balancing device.Acceptable balancing devices include adjustable dampers located within the ductwork, terminal devices, and supply air diffusers. 14. Hot water distribution systems with total system capacities of 600 kBtu/h and greater must have controls that:a)automatically reset the hot water supply temperature, based on heating load,by at least 25%of the design supply-to-return water temperature difference orb)reduce pump flow by at least 50%of design flow rate by using-adjustable-speed drive(s)on pump(sy multiple-stage pumps allowing at least 1/2 of the total pump horsepower to be automatically turned off-control valves designed to modulate or step down and close as a function of load-other approved means(supporting documentation or calculations must be submitted). 15. Hot water space-heating systems with a capacity exceeding 300 kBtu/h supplying heated water to comfort conditioning systems must include controls that automatically reset supply water temperatures by representative building loads(including return water temperature)or by outside air temperature.Exceptions:-Where the supply temperature reset controls cannot be implemented without causing improper operation of heating, cooling, humidification,or dehumidification systems.-Hydronic systems that use variable flow to reduce pumping energy. 16. Stair and elevator shaft vents must be equipped with motorized dampers capable of being automatically closed during normal building operation and interlocked to open as required by fire and smoke detection systems. All gravity outdoor air supply and exhaust hoods, vents, and ventilators must be equipped with motorized dampers that will automatically shut when the spaces served are not in use.Exceptions:-Gravity(non-motorized)dampers are acceptable in buildings less than three stories in height above grade.-Ventilation systems serving unconditioned spaces.
