Queensbury, New York 12804
BLDG. & CODE DEPT.
Dear Mr. Hatin:
•
I would like to update you on the current status of our office
building alteration/reconstruction project.
On May 8, 1991 we had awarded the project to Island Fabricating, Inc.
of Glens Falls. Work is- scheduled to begin on May 13, 1991 and be
completed approximately six (6) weeks thereafter. •
We had decided to have Mr. Rick Bylsma, president of Island Fabricating,
contact your office when an inspection of the project is required.
I have enclosed a sketch which contains one revision which may or
may not be necessary. Please review this revision and contact me
with any comments or questions. According to AIA's .Architectural
Graphic Standards, the new wood beam shown on the enclosed sketch
will exceed structural requirements.
•
It is entirely possible that this revision may not be necessary if
we remove- that area of the existing roof to the next steel beam.
This shall be decided in the field by the contractor.
We will inform you of our decision as well as any other changes
which may occur.
Sincerely, •
David R. Dreyer

Dear Mr. Hatin:
an Agri i—l6,i9-91the—Gi`e 51-a is Cement Co:, -Inc naa submi t i
construction drawings (No. 's E-01D - E-06D) for the procurement of
a building permit.
It has been brought to my attention that the drawings do not contain
notes regarding load capacities.
Referring to NYS Building Code, Part 803.2 states that a uniformly
distributed live load of 120 psf capacity must: be established for
light storage occupancy. The existing 8" thick concrete slab floor •
supported by steel beams not less than 72" 0.C. and steel columns
spaced not less than 12'-0" O.C. apart will 'meet and exceed this
load requirement.
The new roof to be constructed of 2" x 12" wood rafters @ 24" 0.C.
will require a live snow load capacity of not less than 50 psf
(NYS, part 803.3) for the section of roof which will slope approx-
imately 5 . My calculations show that with a live load of 50 psf,
a 2" x 12" rafter which spans 13'-10", may deflect approximately .75".
In this situation this is acceptable as no interior ceiling finishes
will . exist.
If the information stated in this letter is insufficient, please
forward any further questions to Mr. George Kurosaka, P.E. at 793-7190.
Sincerely,
David R. Dreyer
