Dear David,
With respect to the access to the area above the ceiling in our office area,
the code requires a 30" x 20" x 30" access, As we discussed, the 16" on center
truss layout makes this impossible without cutting into a truss_ We have
contacted the truss.manufacturer and are waiting for information. However, they
did mention that this,space should not be considered an attic since the high
density of truss work makes the area impossible for (normal) human entry or
storage, They consider this space a "crawl space". If this is true, then can we
apply the 18" x 24" access requirement for crawl spaces?
We are also exploring the possibility of making the access port through
the flat side facing Quaker Rd.
Please let me know what you think about crawl space vs. attic_ I will keep
you posted on the information that the truss company provides.

We have just recently received a PE's requirement for the truss bracket. A
copy is included with this fax. These requirements have been satisfied. Thus, we
are ready for our final inspection to get the CO for the office area.

Truss Support Bracket at Loading Dock, 820 Quaker Road
Dear Joe:
At your request I have inspected and reviewed the loading conditions on the fabricated
steel bracket that was installed to the south end of the gable end truss above the
loading dock area. The loading conditions are such that the loads imparted on this
bracket from roof live and dead loads are relatively low. The steel bracket as fabricated
is of adequate strength to withstand the imparted loads.
Regarding bracket attachment to the block wall, a minimum of four 3/6' diameter sleeve
anchors should be installed horizontally into.the block wall. Anchors should be Hilti HX
series sleeve anchors or equivalent, installed in strict accordance with manufacturers
instructions for hollow block walls.
