SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING 07-27-2011 MTG #18 653
contacted others regiments from that brigade and they are excited about coming and recreating
the Iron Brigade for that parade. Holden wrote a song for the Iron Brigade and we have someone
who will perform that song. We have three men in Glens Falls who served in the 54th Mass. We
had also contacted those re-enactors and they would be willing to come and also march in the
parade they would like to set up an encampment in Crandall Park.
DR. VANDYKE-Spoke about a County Wide festival to be set up in Crandall Park to be seen
after the parade. The County is thinking about an Open House at the County Offices. Looking
at a County booklet that all the Historians in the County have been asked to contribute
information to Wayne Wright … working on a dinner at the Sagamore. 2014 would like to add
names to the Civil War Monument that were left off.. re: Eagle Looking for a permanent
location for the original monument eagle.
COUNCILMAN STROUGH-Noted a location for the Eagle could be in the atrium at the Town

SUPERVISOR STEC-The general direction is good and certainly we should mark the
anniversary in a meaningful yet responsible manner and need to put more detail and price tags on
these items…

the old Sunnyside Fire Station. Monthly charge at present $375.
COUNCILMAN MONTESI-I want them to stay there.
GARY EVINS EXEUTIVE DIRECTOR-Noted that the Mohican Grange is for sale…if that is
sold commercially it could restrict access to the fire house property…spoke on removal of the
voting machines leasing more room that could be used for the Historical Society a lot of
renovations would have to be made, looking to the future for a museum…
SUPERVISOR STEC-We can keep the lease the same and extend it for two years.
GARY EVINS-That would be fine for us.
SUPERVISOR STEC-In one of our July meetings there will be a resolution to basically renew
the contract for two more years.
