COMMUNICATIONS AND REMARKS
Chairman Simmonds welcomed Jim Miller who was present to update the
Commission on the Hudson River Park project. Jim explained that he
had begun work on developing a phase one concept plan as well as a
master plan for the site. He noted that VanDusen & Steves were
still working on surveying and mapping the site and that he could
not finalize his portion until their work was completed. Jim
briefly explained the permits which would be required from the
jurisdictional involved with the project regulatory agencies (DEC
& Army Core of Engineers). He expressed concern over the possible
time delay associated with permit approval and how this might
affect the overall project time wise. Jim expressed optimism with
regard to completing the project by December 1996 and will finalize
the phase one concept plan and report back at the next meeting.
The Commission reviewed the items of correspondence included in the
monthly packet and there was discussion on the Wiswall note.
Chairman Simmonds briefed the Commission on this subject and there
were no further comments.
The remaining items of correspondence were briefly explained by the
Director and there were comments on the "Q-Club" participant
letter/informational flyer and the revised 1996 new summer program
information.

The Director briefly outlined some of the history regarding the 75
acre site which was dedicated to the Town as part of the Hiland
Park planned unit development (PUD). The land was deeded in 1988
in lieu of the recreation fee. After further information/questions
and there being no further business, the Commission meeting was
adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The group then proceeded to walk the site.
The next meeting will be held on July 9, 1996, beginning at 7:00
p.m., in the pavilion at the Gurney Lane Recreation Area.
