Minutes of the August 5, 2007 regular meeting held at the Town of Queensbury
Gurney Lane Pavilion
Chairman LaBombard called the meeting to order at 7: 05 pm
Roll Call:
• Present— Fusco, Irish, LaBombard, Maine
• Excused—Conboy, Mott
• Staff—Director Lovering,
• Guests—Councilman Ron Montesi
Approval of Minutes:
It was moved by Commissioner Maine, seconded by Commissioner Irish, to
approve the minutes from the July 1, 2008 meeting of the Queensbury Parks and
Recreation Commission. All members present approved.
Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies)
• Letter from Director Lovering to CSEA regarding Step 1 of grievance
procedure as it pertains to Working Foreman disciplinary action. Some
discussion on this matter.
• Letter from Lisamarie White along with resume, regarding her interest in the
opening on the Recreation Commission. Discussion on qualifications took
place. Motion by Commissioner Irish, seconded by Chairman LaBombard
to recommend to Town Board, Lisamarie White as a new member of the
Recreation Commission. All members present approved.
• Monthly Budget Control Report as of August 1, 2008—discussion and some
question by Commissioner Irish and answers (i.e. vehicle fund, heating fuel
costs, telephone budget encumbrances etc.)
Unfinished Business
• West End Park Improvement Project—discussion/update. Period of time
when little work going on. Contractor working on a school project with a
high priority, no concern that the project will not be completed on time.
When project is completed it will be something the community can be proud
of Contractor has not received any payments as of this date.
• Some discussion on use and non use of South Queensbury Park and whether
we should renew our lease with the Fire Company.
New Business
• Hiland Park—Halfway Brook Trail Project—Councilman Montesi present to
discuss this project and the possibility of developing trails in this area.
Director Lovering provided numbers from 2004 on various costs. DEC has
already given approval for trails. Some wetlands exist in this area and will
need consideration. Councilman Montesi will be walking the area to
ascertain possible layout. A lot of legwork has already been completed.
Commission is very supportive of moving forward on this plan to develop a
trail in this area.

Monthly Parks and Program Report
• Having a good summer with registration down slightly. Quality of programs
is excellent. Economy may be having an impact. Concerns still exist
regarding water loss in pool.
• September meeting rescheduled for September 9th .
Adjournment—motion by Commissioner Irish, seconded by Commissioner
Maine, to adjourn at 8:10 pm. All members present approved.
