Minutes of the October 7, 2008 regular meeting of the Queensbury Parks and
Recreation Commission held at the Town of Queensbury Supervisor's Conference
Room
Chairman LaBombard called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm and welcomed new
Commissioner Lisa Marie White
Roll Call:
• Present—Fusco, Irish, LaBombard, Maine, White
• Excused— Conboy, Mott
• Staff—Director Lovering
• Guests--none
Approval of Minutes:
It was moved by Commissioner Maine , seconded by Commissioner Irish, to
approve the minutes from the September 9, 2008 meeting. All members present
approved.
Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies)
• Welcome to newly appointed Commissioner Lisa Marie White
• Monthly Correspondence
• Letter to Superintendent of Schools Huntley from Director Lovering
thanking him for meeting with the Commission members and past and
present cooperation of school district with recreation activities.
• Memo from Councilman Brewer thanking Commission for the
"awesome"job in improving West End Park. Chairman LaBombard
commented on the many positive statements made by community.
• E-mail from Director Lovering regarding stage 4 grievance process
with employee; some brief discussion on meeting with union and
Town Board.
• E-mail from resident regarding presence of dogs at soccer games and
Director Lovering response that Commission will be discussing a
policy regarding same. Signage will be developed by Spring
regarding keeping dogs off playing fields.
• E-mail from resident regarding proposing a BMX track and desire to
present a proposal to Commission at November meeting of
Commission. Discussion on this request and the many others in the
past. Can we continue to add programs with limited resources in
manpower and funding??
o Town Resolution appointing Lisa Marie White to Recreation
Commission.
• Budget Control Report as of October 3, 2008 distributed and discussed
briefly
Unfinished Business
• West End Park Project-punch list distributed with mostly clean-up items and
stripping left. April or May of 2009 dedication planned. Contractor paid
$43,000 thus far. Play structure cost of$66,000 paid. The facility opened to
public weekend of October 4111
• Ridge/Jenkinsville Park Project-water treatment system completed and
approved by DOH. Turf conditions improved and are being used by groups.
Dedication being planned for spring of 2009.
• 2009 Proposed Budget-additional cuts made by Supervisor. Budget
workshop meeting to take place on Wednesday, October 8t11 at 6:30 p.m.

Monthly Parks and Program Report
Written report submitted by Director Lovering. Total revenues are down from the
same period last year. 85% of projected revenues have been met.
Adjournment
A motion was made by Commissioner Maine, seconded by Commissioner White
to adjourn at 8:45p.m. . All members present approved.
