Presentation by Queensbury Rowing Club—
Discussion included overview of the sport, types of rowing boats, also numbers of
students (Saratoga, Queensbury etc). Large invitational meets can be brought into
the community. This brings in revenue for the community. College scholarships
are available to students. This sport also provides an alternative for student
athletes.
Need for storage facility(20x60x16) for boats. There is some concern on size and
location of the storage facility. No money needed from Town. Question about the
existing dock expansion and what is needed for rowing. Also cost to student for
participating is about $300 per season. Financial help is available for those in
need. Commission approves this rowing proposal pending insurance, attorney
review.
