Minutes of the January 5, 2010 regular meeting of the Queensbury Parks and
Recreation Commission held at the Town of Queensbury Supervisor's Conference
Room
Vice Chairman White called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm in the absence of
Chairman Irish
Roll Call:

Approval of Minutes:
It was moved by Commissioner Maine, seconded by Commissioner LaBombard ,
to approve the minutes from the December 1, 2009 meeting. All members present
approved.
Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies)
• Monthly Correspondence
• Letter to Eric Catalano of Saratoga Rowing Association from Director
Lovering regarding terms of use of Hudson River Park for 2010. No
response as of this date.
• Letter of appreciation from Gretchen Versace for use of Hovey Pond
track/walkway for a group of girls during the fall.
• Memo to Supervisor Stec from Director Lovering on Occupancy tax
funding for special events costs showing expenditures for several
events
• Town Board resolution authorizing use of occupancy funds toward
reimbursement of Town Recreation Projects
• Letter of thanks and appreciation from Edward Corcoran regarding
successful softball season last summer. Also response from Director
Lovering
• Copies of letters to the editor of the Post Star regarding the Hoopers
Basketball program payment to coaches.
• Article from Post Star regarding donated land from the Lawrence
family. Also memo to Town Board from Chairman Irish regarding
Commission's acceptance of this donation and recommendation to
Town Board to do the same.
• Copy of Town Board resolution authorizing acceptance of this land
donation
• Budget Control Report dated 12/28/2009
• Employee Roster report (updated)
• Queensbury Recreation Commission 2010 meeting schedule—the April and
November dates have been adjusted to reflect the spring break and election
day
Unfinished Business (see file for copies)
• 2010 Park Project Priority List with a copy of the spending guidelines for
Occupancy Tax Funds. Three of the four projects qualify for occupancy tax
funds. Will set up workshop meetings with Town Board to begin
discussions.
• Meadowbrook preserve—contract from Warren County Soil and Water
which was approved and contract signed (copy included with agenda)
• Safe Bikeways Committee—report and discussion with Commissioner Mott
on first meeting held on Dec. 17tH Erin F Director of Adirondack/Glens
Falls Transportation Commission on committee and can have a major impact
on a bikeway in terms of grants etc. Next meeting January 28th 2010.
New Business
• Hudson Pointe Nature Preserve—sign program proposal. A written quote
submitted by Trampoline Design in the amount of$8,800 to design the
signage and $8,676.80 for production of signage. General consensus of the
Commission is to get a comparable quote.
• Replacement vehicle discussion vs. mileage reimbursement—letter to be
developed showing justification for a vehicle
