1986-10-20 QUEENSBURY RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING OCTOBER 20, 1986 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury, held Monday, October 20, 1986 at the Queensbury Town Office Building, Queensbury, New York. Vice- chairman Granger called the meeting to order at 7:36 P.M. PRESENT: Commissioners Bly, Granger, Lemery, Little, Teti, Councilwoman Monahan and Director Hansen ABSENT: Commissioner LaBombard, Martin (ex.) VISITORS: Ted Bigelow (Woodbury's), Stuart Mesinger (Town Planner) APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Teti moved to approve the minutes of the September 8th, 1986 meeting. Commissioner Lemery seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. DIRECTOR'S REPORT In light of the fact the Chairman was detained, but expected momentarily, and because the visitors were present to talk about land acquisition, the Commission opted to change the agenda and review the Director's Report first. A verbal report was given and it was explained that the pool had been winterized and that many of the items on the initial pool punch list had been correct- ed. The Director noted that there were still about 10-15 items which the contractor had yet to rectify. A number of fall programs were briefly explained and included: senior citizen trips (see flyers) aerobic dance classes, the co-ed volleyball program and the mens' gYm night program. Commissioner Teti asked for clarification regarding senior citizen attendance/ residency requirements, and the Director explained that any senior citizen who resides in the Town of Queensbury, or who is a member of the Queensbury Senior Citizens Club, may participate in Town sponsored senior functions. Recreation Commission Minutes October 20, 1986 Page 2 The Director briefly explained information regarding: the Department's upcoming budget meeting with the Town Board, the yet to be completed swimming pool report and the Department's Lake George (Sandy Bay) Development Plan which was being typed and would be to the Supervisor the following day. Councilwoman Monahan suggested that in light of the great variety of shows being offered at Proctor's Theater, that the Department consider offering a family trip this winter. The Director agreed and will make every effort to schedule such a program as soon as possible. EXECUTIVE SESSION The guests were introduced to the Commission and Commissioner Lemery moved to adjourn to executive session at 7:45 P.M., to discuss land acquisition. Commissioner Bly seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. Returning to open session at 9:03 P.M., the Director relayed the situation regarding the Docksider Restaurant's request to use a portion of the Town's canoe access area, on Glen Lake, as park- ing for broom ball participants. After discussing the specifics, the Commission had no objection but suggested that the Director check first with the Glen Lake Park Association, to insure that this usage will not adversely affect our summer park relationship. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:08 P.M. The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 10th, 1986 at 7:30 P.M.
