APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Bly moved to approve the minutes of the January
25, 1982 meeting. Commissioner Champagne seconded the motion which
was unanimously approved.
COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE
The Director distributed copies of the Recreation Commis-
sion's letter to Town Supervisor Walter regarding the request to
consider full time employment for Terry Pratt. The letter was
sent to all Town Board members late in January and to date there
has been no reply. Councilman Morrell relayed that the Board had
discussed the request in executive session and that no decision
had been made.
Councilman Morrell stated that the house at Hovey Pond had
been found open over the weekend and that a broken water pipe was
also discovered. The Director replied that he was aware of the
situation and had taken steps to repair the pipe and had both
entryways to the house locked more securely with padlocks and
hasps.

discussion concerning winter programs. It was explained that
Queensbury School students are now using the ice skating area
and warming house for morning physical education classes. Such
usage further points out the good working relationship between
the Recreation Department and the School. This relationship
has permitted the Recreation Department to offer many recreation
programs and activities at school facilities at little or no
cost to residents.
Commissioner Bly relayed a concern from interested residents
regarding the possibility of a Queensbury teen center, In as
much as the Senior Citizen Club was granted permission to use the
house at Hovey Pond, Commissioner Bly wondered whether or not
something could be done regarding a facility for teen activities.
It was explained that teen centers, as a vehicle where youth
activities are programmed, had outlived their usefulness. The
days of drop-in centers with organized activities had for the
most part been replaced with specialized activities programmed
on an as-needed basis, (ski trips, concerts, dances, etc.).
The Commission pointed out that the Recreation Department pro-
grams many activities during the year for teenagers but if these
residents wanted to discuss the situation further they should
contact the Director.
The Director requested an executive session to discuss pos-
sible land acquisition. Returning to open session and there
being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:12 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 22, 1982
