QUEENSBURY RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MEETING
MARCH 24, 1980
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Recreation Commission
of the Town of Queensbury, held Monday, March 24,1980, at the
Queensbury Town Office Building, Queensbury, New York. Chairman
Lyon called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
PRESENT: Commissioners Bly, Champagne, Howe, Lavigne, Lyon, Roop
& Director Hansen.
ABSENT: Commissioner Yasko (ex.)
VISITORS: Cathy Kathe (Post Star)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Following review, Commissioner Bly moved to approve the minutes
of the February 25, 1980 meeting. Commissioner Champagne seconded the
motion, which was unanimously approved.
COMMUNICATIONS
The Director briefly reviewed the 1980 Division for Youth funding
information sheet which was enclosed in the monthly packet. The
Governor's 1980 budget should be finalized by April 1st and until that
time, Division for Youth funding for all New York State municipalities
is seriously jeopardized.
SUMMER PROGRAM REPORT MEETING DATE
The Director informed the Commission that the summer program re-
port, with recommendations for 1980 would be ready shortly, and that
a special meeting to review the material should be held. Monday,
April 14th, was chosen and Commissioner Lyon, Bly, Howe:and Champagne
volunteered to meet at Chairman Lyon's house at 7:30 P.M. to discuss
the report.
APRIL MEETING - ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The Director reminded those present, that the annual election of
Commission Officers (Chairm~n and Vice-Chairman) was scheduled for the
April meeting.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The Director's Report was reviewed and there was some discussion
concerning the ski trip to Whiteface. Overall, the four ski trips
which the Department offered this past season were successful in terms
of attendance.

The winter program recap was reviewed and the question of
providing ice for the hockey players next year was discussed. The
concensus was, that youth hockey participation is increasing in
this area and that the Department has a responsibility of trying to
accommodate those who desire to play.
The Director will prepare an evaluation of all 1979-80 winter
programs and make recommendations for 1980-81.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Commission adjourned to executive session to discuss possible
land acquisition.
Returning to open session, and there being no further business,
the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 P.M. The next meeting will be held
on Monday, April 28, 1980 at 7:30 P.M.
