As you are aware, the initial percolation. tests I performed last winter showed that the original fill placed for the leach•fields was too slow and would have required redesign of the systems. I was also concerned that the original fill was absorbing too much groundwater. Therefore,the original fill was modified by mixing in more,granular material and approximately 3 feet of additional fill was added to each leach field. I have performed percolation.tests in the new fill'on each of the 4 leach fields and find that it meets with the requirements of the original design. Therefore the leach fields have been constructed in conformance WM the original design except for the fact that the two easternmost fields have been moved approximately 15 feet to the east and the southwestern field has been rotated 90 degrees. Van Dusen and Steves Surveyors have surveyed:the as-built locations of the . septic systems and I will provide you with an as-built drawing as soon as itis prepared. At this time the southwestern septic system is complete, is constructed in conformance with the approved site plans and is ready for use. The remaining systems lack pumps and.some piping. I will make final inspections of these remaining 3"systems as soon as they are completeand will_ issue a separate certification at that time. The walls between the units must have a soundproof rating of 45, in accordance with ASTM rating E413-87. 2. The door widths on all the interior doors from the bedrooms are required to be 36 inches. 3. The stairways must have no greater than a seven and three quarter inch rise,and a tread of nine and a half inches with nosing of one and an eighth inches. 4. The garage walls must be entirely sheet-rocked,as there is potential for living space above the garage. 5. Rise and run of the entrance steps from grade to the threshold of the entrance door must meet the same dimensions as the interior stairs. 6. It is not clear as to whether the basement walls.and ceiling will be sheet-rocked. They must also be sheet-racked in accordance with a 5A rating. 7. There are no smoke detectors shown in the bedrooms or on each floor level including the basement. Please mark the plans accordingly to show a smoke detector in each bedroom,in the hallway,and one on the first floor and basement area. 8. There's'no information as to what type of heating units will be provided,and where. We will need to know the placement of the heating unit, and the type of venting system to be used. Also, if the heating units are in an enclosed room,the door must be noncombustible or a wood door with metal backing 9. The entire wall of the walkout basement must be four foot below grade. It appears from the layout of your plans that the entire back wall of the four-plex is not four foot below grade. 10. If the bonus rooms are to be finished off and doorways provided to them,the ceiling of the garage must be insulated,as well as the walls and ceiling of the bonus room. This is not shown on the plans.
