Dear Gina:
The following items need to be addressed on the plans for Pacific Sunwear in the Lake George
Plaza before a building permit can be issued.
1. The stockroom requires a one hour enclosure around the entire stockroom, with a three-
quarter hour fire door between the stockroom and the main mercantile area. The stockroom
walls must go all the way to the roof deck or to the bottom of the trusses and the entire
ceiling of the stockroom sheetrocked with 5/8th's sheetrock. The wall between the stock
room and the mercantile area is required to be 5/8th's, both sides, of wood or steel studs,to
either the roof deck or to the underside of the trusses.
2. The HVAC system must be tied in to the fire alarm system for the Plaza, so that upon
activation of the sprinkler system,the HVAC system will shutdown.
3. The fitting rooms show no grab bars located within the fitting room. The fitting room is
required to have 42 inch grab bar on the side, and a 36 inch grab bar on the rear installed in
the same locations as required for the handicap bathroom.
4. The existing demise walls on the plans appear to go to the roof deck. If they do not go to the
roof deck, the entire ceiling of the store must be sheetrocked with 5/8ths sheetrock and the
demise walls must be brought up to the underside of the trusses.
I have not performed a field investigation of this store to determine where the existing demise
walls are. If you would like to have me meet someone on site to verify site conditions, I would be
happy to do that.

Dave,
I will be off on Monday and will be unable to do the PAC SUN final.
Here is what I have outstanding at this point.
1. Need written verification from Fire Control Systems that the modifications
meet NFPA 13.
2. There was one head in the store room that was painted....it needs to be
replaced per FCS.
3. The duct detector was not installed.
4.The HVAC Shut down was not installed for either the smoke or the
sprinkler.
5. I have not verified aisle widths.
As I said yesterday,the contractor was not using the stamped plans....that's why the HVAC was a
surprise.
