Section 7.074 Accessory Structures and Uses.
•
4. Private Swimming Pools. Private swimming pools, permanent and portable,
which shall be accessory to a principal , non-commercial dwelling use
shall be regulated as follows: except that these regulations shall
not apply to portable swimming pools which shall be not more than
three (3) feet in height nor more than fifteen (15) feet in length.
a). May be erected only on the same lot as the principal structure.
b) May be erected only in the rear yard of such structure and shall
be of a distance not less than twenty (20) feet from the rear
lot lines or buffer zone where appropriate nor less than ten (10)
feet from the side lot line, or buffer zone where appropriate
principal structure or attached or detached accessory structure.
c) Such use shall not adversely affect the character of the
neighborhood.
d) All private swimming pools shall be enclosed by a permanent fence
of durable material at least four (4) feet in height.
e) In the case where a lot fronts on two (2) or more public
rights-of-way, a private swimming pool shall be erected only on
that portion of the said lot that is directly adjacent to that
side of the principal building which is directly opposite the
architectural main entrance of said building and the neighboring
side lot line. In no case shall the pool be any nearer to the
lot lines abutting any public right-of-way than the required front
setback for the principal building of the zoning district in which
it is located.
Furthermore, the pool shall be screened from the view of the public
right-of-way and the neighboring property by means of landscaping.

NOTE: ALL POOL PERMIT APPLICATIONS MUST STATE MATERIAL TO BE USED.
1) Receptacles on the property shall be located at least 10 ft(3.05 m)from the inside walls of a
pool or fountain.
Exception:A receptacle(s)that provides power for a water pump motor(s)for a permanently
installed pool or fountain, as permitted in Section 680-7, shall be permitted between 5ft and 10
ft (1.52 m and 3.05 m)from the inside walls of the pool or fountain, an4 where so located shall
be single and of the locking and grounding types and shall be protected by a ground fault
circuit-interrupter(s).
(2) Where a permanently installed pool is installed at a dwelling unit(s),at least one 125-volt
receptacle shall be located a minimum of 10 ft (3.05 m) from and not more than 20 ft(6.08 m)
from the inside wall of the pool.This receptacle shall be located not more than 6 ft 6 in.(1.98 m)
above the floor, platform,or grade level serving the pool.
(3)All 125-volt receptacles located within 20 ft (6.08 m) of the inside walls of a pool or
fountain shall be protected by a ground-fault circuit-interrupter. tramortentani

(c) Motors. Pool-associated motors shall be connected to an equipment grounding conductor
sized in accordance with Table 250-95 but not smaller than No. 12. It shall be an insulated
copper conductor and shall be installed with the circuit conductors in rigid metal conduit,
intermediate metal conduit,rigid nonmetallic conduit, or Type MC cable listed for the

680-7. Cord-and Plug-Connected Equipment.
Fixed or stationary equipment rated 20 amperes or Iess, other than an underwater lighting
fixture for a permanently installed pool, shall be permitted to be connected with a flexible cord
to facilitate the removal or disconnection for maintenance or repair. For other than storable
pools, the flexible cord shall not exceed 3 ft(914 mm) in length and shall have a copper
equipment grounding conductor not smaller than No. 12 with a grounding-type attachment plug.

(FPN): It is not the intent of this section to require that the No. 8 or larger solid copper bonding conductor be
extended or attached to any remote panelboard, service equipment, or any electrode,but only that it be employed to
elirninare voltage gradients in the pool area as prescribed.
(a)Bonded Parts.The following parts shall be bonded together.
(1)All metallic parts of the pool structure, including the reinforcing metal of the pool shell,
coping stones, and deck.
(2)1All forming shells and mounting brackets of a no-niche fixture.
(3)All metal fittings within or attached to the pool structure.
(4)Metal parts of electric equipment associated with the pool water circulating system,
including pump motors.
(5)Metal parts of equipment associated with pool covers, including electric motors.
(6)Metal-sheathed cables and raceways,metal piping, and all fixed metal parts that are within
5 ft(1.52 m)horizontally of the inside walls of the pool, and within 12 ft(3.66 m)above the
maximum water level of the pool, or any observation stands,towers, or platforms,or from any
diving structures, and that are not separated from the pool by a permanent barrier. ca, „ii;�r,1
(b) Common Bonding Grid. The parts specified in(a) above shall be connected to a common
bonding grid with a solid copper conductor, insulated, covered, or bare,not smaller than No. 8.
Connection shall be made by pressure connectors or clamps of stainless steel,brass, copper, or
copper alloy. The common bonding grid shall be permitted to be any of the following:
