Dear Mr. La Mott,
This letter is pursuant to our telephone conversation of about February 7, 2003), wherein
we discussed the location of the driveway servicing the above referenced lot. By way of
review, I advised you that our highway personnel requested me to investigate the location
of the driveway because they felt that it was going to be a hazard due to insufficient sight
distance. Members of our engineering staff measured the sight distance for westbound
traffic on Blind Rock Road and found it to be insufficient
ent by approximately 40 feet. I
then looked at the site plan attached to the permit and found the actual drive location to
be somewhat different than the approved location. When I called,you mentioned that the
Town of Queensbury had required the drive to be located closer to Birdsall Road in order
to minimize the removal of existing vegetation. Subsequent to that I contacted the Town
of Queensbury Community Development and was advised that they are agreeable to the
drive being moved westerly in order to obtain a safer sight distance. I did not discuss the
need to replace any removed vegetation with the town.
In consideration of the above,this constitutes a�condition of the permit requiring that the
drive way be moved by a distance of 40 feet westerly, so as to obtain a satisfactory sight
distance for traffic on Blind Rock Road traveling toward Route 9.
Additionally, if similar discrepancies should occur in the future, I recommend that you
contact the involved parties immediately to initiate efforts toward a resolution.
