to substitute for the originally-specified wood girders and posts. The two W14x30
nv'.kc steel beams will deflect less then 1/380 span and will satisfactorily support the 1d.
and 2nd. floor Toads, above. The end reactions of these beams are small enough so
that they may be supported on top of the 6" concrete foundation walls or in wall
pockets. The top flange of each beam must be adequately braced:laterally by joist
hangers welded to the top flange or by wood natters fastened to the top flange and,
in turn, to the joists. The one supporting steel post should have a top plate welded
or bolted to the bottom of one beam (preferably the longer one-piece beam) and
the mating beam fastened to this beam with a bolted or welded clip angle capable of
handling a 20,000lb. beam reaction. The single steel column supporting the
intersection of the 2 beams should be capable of supporting an axial load of
25,0001bs_ The concrete foundation and 6"floor under the column should be able to
support this 25,0001b. column load. A 4" sch. 4fl steel pipe column will make a
satisfactory support as will any manufactured column rated for this axial load.
Rather than a aft. walk-out door from the side of the basement. Mike Feeney
desires a eft. slider with a Oft. window each side of it in the rear wall of the
basement. This is satisfactory if adequate lintels or headers are provided over the
openings to provide support for the floor, wall&any roof loads, above.
Please give a copy of this letter and the sketch to the appropriate Code
Enforcement Officer for his/her records. Let me know if there are other questions or
concerns regarding these changes.

located on Wildwood Pl. , Town of Queensbury, Warren county,
New York.
On May 12, 2000 1 examined the examined and described the soils
and performed 2 perculation tests on the above property. Listed
below are my observations:
TP# 1
0 - 7 Inches, topsoil
7 -44 Inches, silt loam, mottling at 31 inches
Soil perculation rate is 8 minutes and 26 second per inch
in both perculation tests
Soils observed on this property are deep, lacustrine silty
soils. Depth to seasonal high ground water table is noted
by the depth to mottling in the test pit descriptions. The
above soil investgation was performed in the area in the-
septic leach field.
