1. BEFORE ANY CLEARING OR GRUBBING OF THE SITE IS INIATED, AND DURING
EARTHWORK PHASES, SEDIMENT TRAPS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ALL STORM
SWALES AND DITCHES.
2. SEDIMENT TRAPS SHALL CONSIST of HAY BALES PLACED SO AS TO FORM A
PERVIOUS BARRIER IN THE SWALE OR DITCH.
3. AT LEAST TWO WOODEN OR METAL STAKES SHALL BE DRIVEN THROUGH EACH BALE
TOO ANCHOR IT IN PLACE. CONVENTIONAL SNOW FENCING MAY BE USED IN LIEU
OF STAKES TO STABILIZE BALE --TYPE SEDIMENT TRAPS.
4. AFTER EVERY STORM EACH SEDIMENT TRAP SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR FAILURES OR
CLOGGING, AND ANY FAILURE OR CLOGGING SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED.
5. ALL BARE ---EARTH AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED AS SOON AS IS REASON-
ABLY POSSIBLE TO PREVENT EROSION, AND EVERY BARE ---EARTH AREA SHALL BE
SEEDED AND MULCHED BY OCTOBER 1ST. TEMPORARY RAPIDLY GROWING COVER
CROPS, SUCH AS RYE GRASS AND MILLET MAY BE USED FOR TEMPORARY SERFACE
STABILIZATION.
6. SMALL BENCHES AND TEMPORARY INTERCEPTOR DITCHES, INCORPORATING SEDIMENT
TRAPS, SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED WHERE LONG SLOPES ARE STRIPPED OF COVER
GRASSES, OR WHERE FILL AREAS ARE EXTENSIVE.
7. NEW SWALES AND UNLINED DITCHES SHALL INCORPORATE MATTING OR NETTING
OVER SEED AND MULCH WHEN THE INVERT SLOPE EXCEEDS 27. ALL SWALES AND
UNLINED DITCHES SHALL BE SEEDED WITH REED -CANARY GRASS FOR FOUR (4)
FEET EITHER SIDE OF THE SWALE OR DITCH CENTERLINE, AT A RATE OF 25
POUNDS PER ACRE. AFTER JUNE, ALL SEEDING SHALL ALSO BE MULCHED
IMMEDIATELY.
8. ALL AREAS USED FOR STOCKPILING EARTH SHALL HAVE A SEDIMENT BARRIER PLACED ALONG
THE DOWNSLOPE EDGE. STOCKPILE AREAS SHALL BE KEPT GRADED TO PREVENT PUDDLING OF
WATER AND SHALL BE RECLAIMED AND SEEDED AS SOON AS ALL EARTH IS REMOVED.
SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION
DUE TO THE LARGE AREAS OF GRADING INVOLVED
WITH THIS PROJECT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT CONSTRUCTION
ACTIVITIES BE SEQUENCED TO MINIMIZE EROSION
AND SEDIMENTATION IMPACTS. THE FOLLOWING IS
SUGGESTED AS AN APPROPRIATE SEQUENCE OF
CONSTRUCTION HOWEVER IT MAY BE VARIED BY
CONTRACTOR WITH PRIOR NOTIFICATION AND REVIEW
BY THE ENGINEER. IT SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED
TO BE A COMPLETE LIST OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
1. CLEAR AREA FOR ROADS, UTILITIES, STOCKPILE AREAS,
AND STORMWATER DETENTION BASINS.
2. ROUGH GRADE THE NORTHERN MOST PORTION OF MARCY
DRIVE TO PROVIDE A CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE AT THE
NORTH END OF THE SITE.
3. CONSTRUCT STORMWATER DETENTION BASINS ON LOTS
#2, #4, #7 AND #8.
4. ROUGH GRADE MARCY DRIVE AND INSTALL ALL BURIED
UTILITIES STARTING WITH THE STORMWATER OUTLET INTO
THE DETENTION POND ON LOT #8 AND WORKING BACK UP
TOWARD EACH END OF MARCY DRIVE.
5. ALL STORMWATER RUNOFF DURING CONSTRUCTION IS TO
BE DIRECTED TOWARD THE DETENTION POND.
6. COMPLETE MARCY DRIVE SUBBASE AND PAVING.
7. AFTER ALL AREAS ARE STABILIZED AND GRASS COVER
ESTABLISHED CLEAN OUT ALL STORM SEWER CATCH BASIN
SUMPS, FLUSH STORM SEWERS, REMOVE SEDIMENT FROM
DETENTION BASINS AND REMOVE SILT BARRIERS FROM THE
OUTLETS OF ALL DETENTION BASINS.
