Re: Victory Lane—Grease trap
Dave,
Based on my conversation with Mike Shaw it has been established that an exterior grease trap will
be required for the referenced project The building tenant has agreed to provide the requested
size and the installation will be coordinated with the plumbing contractor. The drawings I have:
provided to the contractor do not currently reflect this change as they Were issued prior to getting ;
Mike's formal decision. If you require the drawings to be revised please let me know.
Please give me a call if you have any questions.
Thank you ,

RE: Proposed Victory Lane Restaurant
Grease Trap
As per our phone conversation, I have used the attached formula for estimating
the grease trap size. The grease trap detail is also attached. ,4< ;. .
(D) (GL)(ST) (HR/2) (LF)=size of trap in gallons.
(92) (5) (2.5) (12/2) (-S) 5,520 gallons.
With my experience, I find this size trap to be too large. A 1,500-gallon grease
trap would be acceptable. I would expect that this trap would have to be pumped at least every
two- (2)months.
We do have a maintenance program where we inspect grease traps and possibly
adjust the pumping intervals.
If you have any additional questions, please give me a call.

Dear Ron:
The following items must be addressed on the plans for Victory Lane Restaurant and Mercantile
Store before a building permit can be issued.
p/
All exit doors must be-14 inch from the restaurant area itself, with canopies
covering the door swing to provide prevention of snow and ice accumulation. Also, these
doors must be provided with panic hardware.,,. 5.-42._ .eGa G t.,esG e,b4 9 .
7 All glass in any doors and adjacent to any doorways must safety glass,a note will need to be
put on the plans.
There must be a one-hour fire separation between the restaurant/game room and the
0
. Mercantile Store. The doors must be three-quarter hour rated between the restaurant/game
room and Mercantile area. The entrance vestibule area, must be three-quarter hour rated, as
referred in Section 771.4A(2) of the Code. Another way to accomplish this vestibule area
may be to eliminate the front façade exit doors, therefore making this a recessed vestibule
with no exterior doors, and the doors leading into the vestibule would then become exterior
doors, and no fire separation would be required. /f f,( 0a/lis
/, /
The kitchen must have a0 e-betty fire separation between the kitchen and the dining area of
the restaurant with hear and a half doors provided in the two-hour wall.
Y
All finishes must be Class A in the exit ways, Class B in throughout the rest of the spaces, and
Class One carpeting.
fti
We will need a complete fire alarm system plan including smoke or heat detectors in all
r spaces of the restaurant/game room area, horn strobes throughout, strobes in the bathrooms,
pull stations at the exit doors, and smoke detectors in the return air ducts for the rooftop
units. Also, the rooftop units must be tied in to the fire alarm system for fan shutdown upon
activation of any part of the fire alarm system. al, og/ Cl „ p1et1 P.v}..
i The stockroom for the Mercantile space must have a one-hour enclosure, as well as
the restaurant stockroom, with three-quarter hour fire doors.
All plumbing must be cast iron or copper throughout.
04We need exit lights with battery backup and emergency lights provided in all spaces to
provide adequate egress. The exit lights and emergency lights must be on a dedicated circuit.

PThe bar area of the restaurant must be provided with a 60 inch wide area, no more than 34
111/// inches in height.
. The service counters at the entrance to the restaurant and the Mercantile space must be no
more than 38 inches in height.
Total restaurant seating cannot exceed 99 persons, otherwise a sprinkler system would be
required throughout the assembly space. You should take into account any waiting areas or
waiting areas around the bar which could be considered at three or seven square feet, so the
seating shown on the original plan may have to be reduced to allow for standing room and
waiting area of customers.
IF
Ve will need to know the insulation values, if insulation is to be re-installed in any of these
occupied spaces. Please be aware that faced insulation cannot be left exposed, nor can
certain types of polystyrene foam.
All exits will need to be ramped to grade to meet the handicapped accessible requirement for
0
exiting. Ramps must be a one on twelve pitch with handrails both sides extending one foot
beyond top and bottom of the ramp. The surface of the ramps must be non-skid. Ah a ,JJ/
I believe this is all the items which were addressed at our meeting, and as soon as they are
addressed on a set of plans,we will be able to issue a permit. Should you have any further questions,
please don't hesitate to contact me.

Dear Rick,
On Friday,.September 20, 1999, I received a request from Mr. Maynard Baker,.
owner of the Baker Funeral Home, proposed for construction in the Town of
Queensbury. Mr..Baker asked me to verify that design professional stamps are
required on Fire Sprinkler Design Drawings.
Based on my telephone discussion with you this morning, I placed a telephone call
to the New York State, Building Codes:Division, to clarify the matter. This
afternoon, I spoke with Mr. Steve Rocklin, from the New York State Building Codes
Division. Mr. Rocklin explained that the New York State Education Department
requires Fire Sprinkler Design Drawings to be stamped by a design professional.
Mr. Rocklin then suggested that I contact-the New York State Education
Department for further clarification.
This afternoon, I also spoke with Mr. Thomas.King, from the New York State
Education Department.Mr. King stated that the New York State Education
Department does indeed require Fire Sprinkler Design Drawings to be stamped by
a design professional. Mr. King further explained that if the building designer does
not design the Fire Sprinkler System, then the building designer should follow
regents guidelines for plan review and certification. _
It has never been the intent of the Town of Queensbury to disregard the New York
State requirements for stamped design drawings. If previous drawings have been
approved without the appropriate stamp, this was done in error:

Please ensure that the Fire Sprinkler Design Drawings for the Baker Funeral
Home, for Victory Lane, and for other future projects in the Town of Queensbury
have the appropriate stamps.
Please feel free to call my office at 761-8205 if you have any questions concerning
this matter.
