I inspected your garage this morning. One attic truss has had part of its
bottom 2"x8" chord removed to allow a stairway to be installed to the storage
area, overhead. The bottom chord has been headed off with a double 2"x8"
member on each side of the stairwell opening. Each header was hung to the
truss on each side of the stairwell. The attic truss in-line with the center of
the stairwell was hung at each end to the headers.
The garage has been through two (2) winters with no snow.load injury to it's
roof assembly. These trusses were made by Curtis Lumber and have 2"x8"
top and bottom chords and are installed 24" O,C.
The existing trusses, stairwell and roofing are satisfactory as they-exist now.
Although installed long before the new Residential Code took effect last
January, the existing-roof assembly is entirely satisfactory: Let-me know if
there are any questions.
Please give a copy of this letter to the appropriate building inspector for his
records.
