Lenowicx Carrols Corporation PO Box 6969 Syracuse, NY 13217-6969 Dear Paul, This morning, I met with representatives from Nelson's Lamplighters, and Fire Fighting Equipment, at the Burger King, here in Queensbury. You will be happy to hear that the HVAC shut down is working at this time. I have nodifed the building department, so they can begin processing your final certificate of occupancy. On our inspection, conducted April 4, Mr. Hahn and I noticed a smell, of raw gas on the roof. We had asked the store manager, Mike Jones, to report this to maintenance. On this mornings inspection, a smell of raw gas is still present. Could you please pass this information on to the appropriate person. Also during April 4th's inspection, I mentioned to Mr. Jones that the .fire department connection for the sprinkler system should have two 2 %" caps, to keep children from putting debris into the sprinkler piping. I am told that Mr. Jones has been transferred, and I am unable to verify if these parts have been ordered. If you could check on this as well, I would appreciate it. Keith had been under the impression that this problem had already been repaired, I asked Keith to contact Sam at Fire Fighting Equipment to arrange a meeting between myself, the building department, and representatives from both Lamplighters and Fire Fighting Equipment, so this matter can be resolved. The following is a list of observations that address your questions. 1. In a letter dated August 17, 1998, from Mr. Steven A Moeser, Architect, to Mr. Dave Hatin, Town of Queensbury, it states "All work involving sprinkler heads moved or disturbed shall be done according to the latest code requirements." 2. NFPA 13A does require that any alterations be completed according to code. 3. Schedule 40 ferrous pipe and type K, type L, and type M are acceptable for use in restaurant service areas, some types of CPVC are approved for restaurant seating areas. 'Any sprinkler materials must be specifically listed for such use by the manufacturer. 4. While minor modifications, related to sprinkler height, will be permitted, any changes in sprinkler location will not be permitted without approved sprinkler design drawings, stamped by a design professional, per state guidelines. 5- Sprinkler heads damaged during any modification must be replaced with an exact duplicate. 6. Separations between sprinklers and obstructions must be maintained. 7. Upon the completion of work, sprinkler system acceptance tests must be conducted by a qualified sprinkler professional.
