The best designed and installed septic disposal system will eventually fail to function properly without adequate maintenance. Inadequate septic tank maintenance can result in clogging of the tank and sewage back-up into the home and/or sewage overflow onto the ground surface. The failure to periodically clean a septic tank commonly results in clogging of the soil that surrounds the absorption ` 1 trench by overflowing solids not removed by the septic tank. 9V 1 2. This set of design plans and details is intended to provide subsurface sewage disposal for a typical single family dwelling. No additions involving living or sleeping areas may be added to the dwellings without the approval of the Code Enforcement Officer and the system redesign by a licensed Professional J Engineer. The seal and signature on any drawing specifically excludes certification for future expansion or field replacement. / mock 3. No garbage grinders allowed unless installed as initial construction of the house, and the septic tank i \ , 100, wetAl size increased by 250 gallons. 4. No sump pump, water softener backwash, spas, hot tubs, whirlpools, or condensate waste shall be I1,e// j I drained into the system. j 5. The dwelling shall have water saving fixtures, including but not limited to: 2 gpm shower heads, / \ low water use toilets. --340 - \ 6. Observe water conservation practices. ---- \`/ \\ j ' wetlands 7. Septic tanks shall be inspected annually to determine the scum and sludge accumulation by the _ \ / homeowner or a qualified septage hauler. The amount of build-up noted at each inspection shall be / /awn \ recorded and maintained in a record book. The septic tank shall be pumped whenever the bottom of \ 2 240.5-1-30. 1 the scum layer is within three inches of the bottom of the outlet baffle or tee, or the top of the sludge - 1..99_4 Acres We# is within ten inches of the bottom of the outlet baffle or tee. The pump -out clearances also apply to porch any chamber in multi -compartment tanks and to any tanks in series (i.e. pump out all tanks/chambers /\ Iown ) \ as soon as any tank or chamber fails the minimum clearance). Most tanks should be pumped out every two to five years. X d%` \ (Ott 0 8. When septic tank is pumped, the septic tank inlet connection, baffles/tees, house sewer connection, @ C 3br h \ \ tank outlet connection, and pump pit (if present) shall be inspected. Any baffle or tee that have / Oy \\ ^n. (pill g deteriorated and no longer perform as designed must be replaced. Cracked or broken lines must be repaired or replaced. 9. Any company employed to clean and service the septic tank and system, must be a permitted- septage hauler, with valid standing with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation office. Septic tanks should not be washed or disinfected after being pumped out.Walm 00110 n -0 ohm 10. Septic tank additives shall not be used in the septic system. Additives are unnecessary for the / hudequds 1 PT2 ' I _J. proper operation of household systems and may cause the sludge and scum in the septic tank to be Y I discharged into the absorption field, resulting in premature failure. /ITNow ' \ I 11. Do not dispose of excess household grease and fat in the septic system. wooded TP1 ,1 I bCOnOi 12. Whenever septic tanks are to be abandoned (i.e. when public sewers are installed to handleSM1111111L_ e.,,, household wastes), the tanks shall be pumped out and refilled with soil to prevent future collapse. \w I I I """""i• 13. Do not pour or dump chemical cleaners (i.e. ammonia) in the sinks or toilets. \ j I In plsoe 1 Proposed \ i . I wet/ands I 14. Do not discharge roof drains, or allow stormwater runoff to collect on the absorption field area. 15. No vehicle parking or traffic shall be allowed on any portion of the sewage disposal system. ` D'i'bution Box 16. The sewage disposal system is designed for domestic wastewater only, with the design of the \ absorption field on the projected flows. Any use of the dwellings that has a greater discharge of / I I 24 . 1- 1-60 II wastewater flow than designed will require a redesign of the disposal system by a licensed Professional 10096 Reserve Area ` \ / I Engineer. \ \ / I d' I 17. The installation was completed by Bentley Excavating on May 22, 2023 As the engineer of record, I certify to the Town of Queensbury as follows: 1. I am in fact the designer of the system. 2. I am personally familiar with the actual site conditions and in consideration of those conditions the system was designed in compliance with the Town of Queensbury standards requiring two feet of separation between the bottom of the stone trench and the annual high-water table and Part 75A of the New York State Department of Health Sanitary Code. 3. Wales Engineering staff, under my direct supervision, inspected the system at the time of construction and I have personal knowledge that it was constructed in compliance with the design. The only deviation from the design plan was the installation of 3 laterals @ 47’, rather than 4 @ 35’. This alteration was due to large boulders encountered during construction. 4. Wales Engineering prepared an asbuilt plan (see attached) depicting the septic system as it was constructed, including measurements from: well to leach field, adjoining property wells within 200’ of disposal field (if applicable), to tank and leach field, building to tank, building to leach field and leach field dimensions. Inspection performed on May 23, 2023. If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Timothy W. Wales Timothy W.
