3.01 3.1 APPONTMENTS\Establish Training Technician Fire Marshal Office-Temporary Part Time Appoint Mike Palmer—9-11-23 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PART-TIME, TEMPORARY POSITION OF TRAINING TECHNICIAN AND APPOINTING MICHAEL PALMER RESOLUTION NO. 12023 INTRODUCED BY: WHO MOVED FOR ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: WHEREAS, due to the recent retirement of Michael Palmer, the Town of Queensbury's former full-time Fire Marshal, the Town Board wishes to establish a temporary, part-time position of Training Technician and appoint Mr. Palmer to such position for the training and mentoring of the Fire Marshal Office's staff, with Mr. Palmer to work on an on-call basis an average of 20 hours per week at the rate of pay of$30 hourly commencing on or about September 12t', 2023 for a one (1)year period that may be renewed as needed by the Town's Director of Building and Codes Enforcement, and WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to establish the Training Technician position as set forth in the Warren County Department Personnel and Civil Service's New Position Duties Statement and Job Description presented at this meeting and appoint Michael Palmer to the position, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby establishes the temporary, part-time position of Training Technician and appoints Mr. Palmer to such position to work on an on-call basis an average of 20 hours per week at the rate of pay of$30 hourly commencing on or about September 12th, 2023 for a one (1)year period that may be renewed as needed by the Town's Director of Building and Codes Enforcement, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor, Director of Building and Codes Enforcement and/or Budget Officer to complete and file any documentation, amend the Town Budget and take such other and further actions necessary to effectuate all terms of this Resolution. TRAINING TECHNICIAN-TOWN DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The employee in this temporary part-time position is responsible for the training and mentoring of staff of the Town of Queensbury's Fire Marshal's Office. The work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Buildings and Codes. The incumbent will exercise independent judgment in the delivery of training and mentoring. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (illustrative only) Trains staff on Town software system; Assists Fire Marshal's Office in the transition to the Town's software system; Trains staff in NYS Codes update implementation; Assists with staff transition to office under new Fire Marshal; Assists staff with general Codes research and training; Participates in and/or performs Plan Reviews; Oversees transfer of duties of newly appointed Safety Officer.
