MASONRY SCOPE OF WORK Work under this division consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, scaffolds, services, etc. , as required for the installation of: Footings, foundation walls, piers, anchor bolts, concrete steps, concrete platforms, chimney, brick veneer, fireplaces, concrete floor slabs, slate and flagstone platforms, marble areaways, basement sash, lally columns, cement plastering, dampproofing, slushing of sills, cutting and patching, and any other masonry work necessary to complete the work of this division. MATERIALS Cement shall be an approved Portland Cement. Hydrated lime shall conform to the specifications of the American Society of Testing Materials. Water shall be clean and free from adulterants. The fine aggregate shall be clean, sharp sand with not more than 5% by volume. of clay, silt, or loam. The coarse aggregate shall consist of clean, hard, crushed rock or gravel, graded, 11/2" down. Concrete blocks shall be made according to the standard specification of the American Institute of Concrete. Concrete for footings shall be 1:2:4 mix. ' Concrete for floor and porch shall be 1:3 :5 mix. Reinforcing' mesh for concrete floor shall be 10 gauge welded wire 6/6_. Slate for Foyer and entrance steps shall be 1/4" random shape natural slate. FORMS All wooden forms as required for footings, floors, aprons, steps, caps, piers, etc. shall be set and braced inplace by the Mason Contractor. 3 Page 2 FOOTINGS All footings shall be of 1: 2: 4 concrete 3000 lbs, as herein specified, poured in wooden forms in the width and depth shown on drawings. All concrete shall be well spaded in ..the 'forms and screeded level 'with the tops of forms. All footings shall be poured on solid undisturbed earth beds. Care shall be taken to pour a continuous footing where footings are stepped with grade. • • FOUNDATION WALLS Foundation walls shall be built .of concrete 25001bs. Walls shall be plumb and level with the voids of top course of blocks filled solid with cement mortar. Provide pockets in foundation walls for resting girders and fill voids below girders with grit concrete. For footings and walls reinforcing see foundation drawings. CONCRETE. FLOORS AND PLATFORMS Basement floors shall be 4" reinforced monolithic concrete poured over level and tamped full of bank run gravel. Basement floor shall be finished level. Concrete .base slab for use under .entrance platform and patio shall. be .4" thick and shall pit a' l:"away from the building. Concrete floors shall be poured continuously as possible, screeded, floated and finished smooth with steel trowel. • DAMPROOFING All cement plastered surfaces of foundation walls enclosing the basement shall be given 1 coat of asphaltum paint applied cold with a brush to thoroughly fill all pores of the cement plaster surface. • •
