Flow meters were installed on each of the two (2) wastewater pump stations at the facility and flows were monitored daily during the 2023 operating season to determine a maximum daily flow and establish a design flow for the facility. A table with the results of the flow metering is enclosed that indicates a maximum daily wastewater flow of 530 gallons per day (GPD). The marina plans to install a washing machine and dryer as a courtesy for use by its members only, that is anticipated to potentially generate an additional 30 GPD for a total wastewater flow of 560 GPD. It is proposed to establish a wastewater design flow of 600 GPD, which will provide an additional 40 GPD as a factor of safety. The existing 1 ,250-gallon septic tank is sufficiently sized for the 600 GPD design flow_ The existing soil absorption disposal field is sized for 500 GPD of septic tank effluent, so it will be necessary to expand the disposal field. Subsurface soil conditions were evaluated by conducting deep hole test pits and percolation testing on October 24, 2023. The test pits identified a shallow high water table elevation that is two (2) feet below the elevation of the bottom of the stone in the existing disposal field. Results of the percolation testing indicate that the soil application rate in the original septic design of 1 .0 gallons per square foot per day is appropriate. It is proposed to expand the size of the soil absorption disposal field by extending the length of the absorption bed by ten ( 10) feet and extending each of the laterals by ten (10) feet to result in a bed that is 60 feet long. This can be done while maintaining all required horizontal separation distances. The expanded system will meet the requirements of NYSDEG Design Standards for Wastewater Treatment Works in the Lake George Basin for a minimum vertical separation of two (2) feet from a conventional absorption field to groundwater; however, will not meet Town of Queensbury and Lake George Park Commission (LGPC) requirements that call for a three (3) foot vertical separation to groundwater. The enclosed Septic Permit Application seeks relief from the three-foot vertical separation requirement from the bottom of the disposal field to groundwater by Town of Queensbury and LGPC rules. The disposal field is located greater than 400 feet from Lake George and meets all John O'Brien February 29, 2024 Page 2 SRA Job #23-069 other horizontal and vertical separation requirements. Considering the distance to the lake is four times the required separation distance and that the system meets minimum NYSDEC vertical separation requirements indicate that the lake is adequately protected.
