WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury and the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad, Inc.
(Squad) have entered into a 2024 Agreement for emergency protection services (Agreement) which
sets forth a number of terms and conditions including a condition that the Squad will not purchase or
enter into any binding contract to purchase any piece of apparatus, equipment, vehicles, real property,
or make any improvements that would require the Squad to acquire a loan or mortgage or use money
placed in a"vehicles fund"without prior approval of the Queensbury Town Board, and
WHEREAS, the Queensbury Town Board and Squad have negotiated terms for a 2024
Amendment Agreement for emergency protection services to, among other things, add an additional
paid service crew for an extra shift of five (5) hours for an additional annual estimated cost of$80,000,
which$80,000 would include: 1) an allocation of an additional$50,000 to the Squad from the Town's
Emergency Services Fund Balance; and 2) approval to shift $30,000 in the Squad's 2024 Agreement
from Operations to Paid Service, and
WHEREAS, such Amendment Agreement will help to improve emergency services to a shift
where the Squad experiences very high call volumes and will help improve emergency services within
the Town and therefore in accordance with Town Law §184, the Town Board wishes to accordingly
set a public hearing concerning such proposed Amendment Agreement,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board shall conduct a public hearing concerning a
proposed 2024 Amendment Agreement for emergency services between the Town and the West Glens
Falls Emergency Squad, Inc. on Monday, March 18t", 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Queensbury Activities
Center, 742 Bay Road, Queensbury, and
BE IT FURTHER,
RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby authorizes and directs the Queensbury Town Clerk
to publish a Notice of Public Hearing in the Post-Star Newspaper once at least ten (10) days prior to
the Public Hearing.
