At this time I am unable to issue such a permit.The use of the stove, and/or the fireplace, at this time is at your own risk. An explanation follows. 1. Our records do indicate that your fireplace was inspected and approved,by Fire Marshal Bodenweiser, in September of 1990, however the current edition of NFPA 211, "Chimneys Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel Burning Appliances" states that fireplaces shall rest on non-combustible foundations, and that combustible material should not be allowed to touch the underside of the hearth or the hearth extension. NFPA 211 goes on to say that combustible forms used to support the hearth during construction should be removed prior to use. As you know, there are combustible forms and floor joists underneath and in contact with the fireplace hearth. Because of this, I cannot certify the safety of the installation. The potential exists for heat to radiate through the hearth to ignite the combustible material. 2. The installation manual for your Pacific Energy Super 27 stove calls for a pedestal kit or a leg kit to be installed onto the stove. Because this leg kit has been omitted, it is not possible for me to certify that the heat radiating through the bottom of the stove will not ignite the combustible framing over time. 3. The manufacturer of the stove also calls for a 16'clearance to combustibles in front of the stove.
