From the great northeastern forests of New York,
New England and Canada come the top quality
Northern White Pine and Cedar logs chosen for
French Mountain Log Homes. Each log is inspected
at the mill for quality of its wood and its shape. When
the log is acceptable, it is specially cut. Each log is
shaped in accordance with the customer selection,
taken from the French Mountain Log Homes "Chart of
Log Profiles' The logs are precision cut, end
trimmed and shaped on machinery especially de-
signed for this purpose. Each log carries the triple
tongue and groove on the top and bottom surfaces.
This tongue and groove system provides for a tight fit,
insuring strength and a weather tight seal.
Solid log walls are known for natural structural
strength and installation. A log wall constructed from
our logs provides a heat holding capacity of over 31/
2 times that of a 2 x 4 wall with 3 1/2 inches of
fiberglass insulation.' With our solid wall construc-
tion, insulating, studding, framing, siding, and panel-
ing are unnecessary, therefore, resulting in fast, eoo-
nomiical construction compared to conventional
methods.
Log wall construction provides natural insulating fea-
tures. Wood contains millions of airspaces within its
cellular stricture and air is one of the best known
insulators. Because of this factor, wood insulates six
times better than brick, fifteen times better than alu-
minum. It would take a concrete wall 5' thick to equal
the insulating quality of just 4" of wood. Because
wood proves to be insulation efficient, it is very eco-
nomical. A log wall can be adapted to any type of
building design. It provides for economy, easy main-
tenance and quick erection. Log construction is the
answer to quality construction at low cost. We can
provide top quality pine logs for your construction
needs, insuring you the best built structure in the
industry. Not only will your building be attractive but
solid and economical. By providing the best product
to work with the end result can only be the bestl
French Mountain Log Homes are available as a kit
that can be assembled by any do-it-yourselfer with a
minimum of carpentry experience and basic tools,
and at the most affordable cost in the building Indus-
try today. The homes are also available as a com-
pleted erected log home on your site.
