COUNCILMAN FREER(WARD II) • Reported that Kathy Bozony is working on a couple of things related to the climate committee and more to follow but it sounds like there's some momentum in the County to improve composting, so I look forward to seeing that move down the field. • Reported that there are still some people advocating for some kind of secondhand store at the transfer stations and we will continue to work on getting to our silver status through all the wickets that the State has put out there. • Reported that he is still working on and received another complaint about sidewalks today and a couple complaints about traffic. Thankfully the Highway Department was very helpful. Both happened to be on State roads, Upper Glen on Route 9, a big box fell off and the State was able to go fetch it pretty quickly thanks to the Highway Department contacting them. • The Pedestrian crossing flashing light on River Street that crosses over where the Feeder Canal Trail goes and the one on the North side, the button doesn't work. The guy was responsive,he said he put it on the signals list of things to do. Those things are a good warning in a pretty good speedy area. We can't keep everybody from speeding, but I'd like to see more of those in the Town. • Reported that the Greater Glens Falls Transportation Group is going to have some bicycle money and the Town should take a look at how Queensbury can help. I'd like to see a couple more pedestrian crossing signs around. Sweet Road and the bike path would be places that I would look for. It sounds like there is going to be money coming available. Maybe we can put one up at the end of Bay Road. COUNCILMAN DIXON(WARD III) • As we are talking about speeding, a resident that lives on Dixon Road was concerned about the flow of traffic. She lives on the crest of Dixon Hill just before you go down and she's saying traffic as its heading from west to east just before you hit that crest, they are moving along much faster than 35.I don't see an easy fix for it.We have the alert sign as you go down the hill, it will flash what your speed is. I am looking forward to suggestions. Would that sign be better served pulling it up the hill? She'd like to see more Sheriff patrol there. In reality the Town is very large, and we can't have sheriffs everywhere just sitting but I will contact Jim LaFarr to see if he can provide a greater presence there. • Reported that an individual contacted him about a neighbor that seems to be a night owl and from 11-4 he/she is out there having a party, the music's going and they're having a grand ole time. The sheriffs come and there's nothing that they can do because they're not violating any laws. So, this ties in with our conversation, those that are watching, we are having conversations regarding a noise ordinance. Regular Town Board Meeting, 07-15-2024, MTG 922 279 • Reported that at the Luzerne Road Transfer Station there are signs up for radioactive waste, no disposal of it. There may have been one incidence so far where an individual may have disposed of radioactive medical waste, so the Town had to pay for multiple trips to the center to dispose of this waste. Please be careful to follow the instructions that you are given by medical professionals on how to dispose of such waste. SUPERVISOR STROUGH • Michael Dixon and I attended the LGA Summer Gala at our own expense. It was a nice event. The LGA is a great organization. It was a wonderful time at the Sagamore, great food and everything else. • The Luzerne Road culvert is in the process of being replaced and may not be entirely finished until September.Although they are making good progress on it,it is closed toward the western part of Luzerne Road. So, keep that in mind when planning your trips. • Reported that the LGA did an interview with him, and he received a very nice email from Meghan Krumholz. They thanked me for my thoughtful insights and reflection as they are developing their new strategies, looks like they are taking us up on our thoughts. • Reported that he attended the Warren County Water Strategy Committee Meeting, which was held at Crandall Park, it was a very nice meeting. • Reported that he also gave a presentation to the Wiawaka folks up on Lake George. Wiawaka is a beautiful place, what a great place. It's a place that was originally set aside for working women and it still is. For me to be able to attend I needed to bring my wife, which is okay with her, she loves the place. I gave a presentation to the group on how the bicycle changed the World. • Thank you, Joel Barlow and Jessie Jackson from Look TV. Thank you, Town Counsel Mark Schachner and Deputy Town Clerk Betty Murphy, Town Board and the public, thank you all for attending tonight.
