Heating appliances manufactured as "vent free" are not regulated by New York State, and therefore no inspections will be performed during the installation of this appliance. While we cannot prevent you from installing this unit,we recommend that only"vented" appliance be installed due.to the potential issue,of carbon monoxide(CO) poisoning from "vent free" appliances. If you wish to proceed with the installation, please install the heating appliance in accordance to all manufacturer's recommendations, specifications and in accordance with the NYS Fuel Gas Code and NFPA 54. Also, carbon monoxide (CO) detection shall be installed. At a minimum, there shall be a carbon monoxide(CO) detector outside of sleeping areas and within 10 feet of the entrance • to the sleeping area(s). • Please feel free to reach out to our office should you have any questions. When in intermittent pilot mode (as you are using a remote control, wall switch or thermostat. it comes from the factory), your pilot remains unlit until needed, saving you fuel. Standing pilot mode, by com- parison, is characterized by a continuously burning pilot. The benefit of a pilot which lights only when needed is fuel savings. However, with no pilot burning in your fireplace, units operating in colder climates may experience delayed start up or lock out. Because colder air is heavier than milder air and there is no pilot burning to maintain a warm stable temperature in your firebox, establishing a draft to aid ignition becomes difficult. This is perfectly normal but can be somewhat frustrating.
