A NOTE ABOUT EFFLUENT FILTERS AND WIPES
THE USE OF AN EFFLUENT FILTER IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. AN
EFFLUENT FILTER PROVIDES ANOTHER CHANCE TO REMOVE SOLIDS FROM
THE WASTE STREAM PRIOR TO THEM ENTERING THE DISTRIBUTION BOX
AND CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE LEACHING SYSTEM. DO NOT REMOVE
IT ACCEPT FOR CLEANING. WHEN CLEANING PULL THE FILTER OUT BUT
DO NOT PUT FILTERED MATERIAL BACK IN THE TANK. PUT THE FILTER
IN A HEAVY DUTY GARBAGE BAG, SHAKE THE FILTER THEN SPRAY IT
WITH THE HOSE TO CLEAN IT. THROW OUT THE GARBAGE BAG AND
PLACE THE CLEAN EFFLUENT FILTER BACK IN THE EFFLUENT TEE
BAFFLE. HAVE YOUR CONTRACTOR SHOW YOU HOW TO FIND THE
EFFLUENT FILTER.
WIPES, BABY WIPES, TAMPONS, KOTEX, ETC. THESE ITEMS DO NOT
BELONG IN THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. THEY EXPAND AND THEN CLOG PIPING,
THE EFFLUENT FILTER AND IF THEY GET THERE, THE DISTRIBUTION BOX
& POTENTIALLY THE LEACHING SYSTEM.
IF YOUR EFFLUENT FILTER OR OTHER SYSTEM COMPONENTS ARE
CLOGGED YOU MAY NOTICE THAT THE TOILET IS SLUGGISH AND YOU
MAY HEAR SOME GURGLING WHEN IT FLUSHES. IF THIS OCCURS CLEAN
YOUR EFFLUENT FILETER AND IT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION.
IF IT DOES NOT YOU MAY HAVE OTHER ISSUES THAT REQUIRE THE HELP
OF A PROFESSIONAL.
THIS PLAN IS FOR A REPLACEMENT SYSTEM AND INCLUDES THE
INSTALLATION OF A DISTRIBUTION BOX AND AAN ELJEN GSF LEACHING
SYSTEM. THE EXISTING SERVICE FROM THE HOME AND THE SEPTIC TANK
ARE TO REMAIN AS IS, IF AFTER INSPECTION IT IS DEEMED TO BE IN
GOOD CONDITION AND NOT LEAKING. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT AN
EFFLUENT FILTER BE INSTALLED AND THE OPENING OVER THE FILTER BE
EXTENDED TO GRADE.
THE EXISTING DISTRIBUTION BOX AND LEACH FIELD ARE TO BE EXCAVATED
AND MOVED OUT OF THE AREA OF THE PROPOSED FACILITIES. PIPE IS TO
BE CLEANED AND DISPOSED OF. DBOX AND STONE ARE TO BE BURIED
ONSITE OR REMOVED TO A LEGAL DISPOSAL FACILITY. IT IS RECOMMENDED
THAT THE DBOX AND STONE REMAIN ON SITE.
CONTRACTOR NOTIFICATION:

IN THIS PLAN ARE ENCOUNTERED, THE CONTRACTOR

SYSTEM COMPONENTS MUST BE DIVERTED FROM THE LEACHING SYSTEM AREA.
21.) SOME LEACHING SYSTEMS REQUIRE THAT AN EFFLUENT FILTER BE INSTALLED PRIOR

AMONG OTHER TYPES OF LEACHING SYSTEMS THIS INCLUDES ELJEN GSF SYSTEMS AND
PUR-A-FLO PEAT FIBER SYSTEMS. EFFLUENT FILTERS REMOVE SOLIDS THAT MIGHT
PASS THROUGH THE SEPTIC TANK AND CONTINUE INTO THE LEACHING SYSTEM. THEY
REQUIRE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE (SEE OTHER NOTES) TO OPERATE PROPERLY. A BACK
UP FROM A CLOGGED EFFLUENT FILTER IS NOT A FAILURE OF THE SEPTIC SYSTEM, IT
MERELY INDICATES THAT THE EFFLUENT FILTER NEEDS MAINTENANCE. AN EFFLUENT
FILTER IS RECOMMENDED ON ALL ON SITE SEPTIC SYSTEMS.

SEPTIC TANK AND PUMP STATION
BUOYANCY CONTROL
IT IS LIKELY THAT IF THE SEPTIC TANK IS PUMPED
DURING PERIODS OF SEASONAL HIGH GROUNDWATER THAT
THE TANK MAY FLOAT DUE TO BUOYANT FORCES. IN
ORDER TO PREVENT THIS IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A
DEADMAN SYSTEM IS PROVIDED UTILIZING PALLETTE
VERSATILE WALL BLOCKS. UTILIZE ONE BLOCK ON EACH
SIDE OF THE TANK AND STRAP OVER THE TANKS FROM
FROM BLOCK TO BLOCK. STRAPS ARE TO BE NYLON OR
POLYESTER WITH A MINIMUM OF 10,000 POUNDS
CAPACITY. ALL HARDWARE TO BE CORROSION RESISTANT
BY WAY OF COATING OR ENCAPSULATING. THEY SHALL
HAVE TURN BUCKELS OR A RATCHET SYSTEM TO TIGHTEN
THEM OVER THE TANK AND AROUND THE DEADMAN.
PLACE STRAPS AS SHOWN. AS THE PUMP STATION IS
NEVER MEANT TO BE FULL IT MUST BE PROTECTED AS
WELL.
IT IS IMPERITIVE THAT SEPTIC AND PUMP STATION TANKS
ARE WATERTIGHT AS THEY MAY BE LOCATED BENEATH
SEASONAL HIGH GROUNDWATER FOR A CONSIDERABLE
PART OF THE YEAR. STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO
SECURE JOINTS AND ENSURE WATER TIGHTNESS. IF
EITHER TANK LEAKS IT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE
LEACH FIELD TO FAIL.

PUMP STATION 0 & M NOTES
IN GENERAL, THERE ARE NO ROUTINE
MAINTENANCE MEASURES THAT NEED TO BE
TAKEN FOR THE PUMP STATION. PUMP
STATIONS HOUSE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL
EQUIPMENT THAT THE HOMEOWNER SHOULD
NOT ALTER. TRAINED PROFESSIONALS SHOULD
MAINTAIN A PUMP STATION. THE PUMP
STATION IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ALARM THAT
WILL BE ENERGIZED WHEN THE WATER LEVEL IN
THE STATION BECOMES TOO HIGH. A LEVEL
SWITCH ENERGIZES AN AUDIO AND VISUAL
ALARM LOCATED IN THE PUMP STATION
CONTROL PANEL. AT SUCH TIME THE
HOMEOWNER SHOULD LIMIT ACTIVITIES THAT
GENERATE WASTEWATER AND CALL A REPAIR
PERSON. TWO PUMPS ARE PROVIDED IN THE
STATION AND NORMALLY SHOULD BE
ALTERNATED. IF ONE PUMP FAILS IT SHOULD
BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. PUMP
FAILURE IS ONE OF THE COMMON EMERGENCIES
THAT OCCUR. IT IS, HOWEVER, RECOMMENDED
THAT YOU VISUALLY CHECK THE INTERIOR OF
THE PUMP STATION AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR
TO SEE IF. GREASE BALLS OR OTHER FLOATING
SOLIDS MAY EXIST AS THEY CAN FOUL THE
OPERATION OF THE LEVEL SWITCH SYSTEM.
REMOVE ANY SOLIDS FROM THE STATION AND
DISCARD IN THE GARBAGE. TAKE CARE NOT TO
MOVE THE LEVEL SWITCHES OUT OF POSITION
AS THIS CAN CAUSE ISSUES DOWNSTREAM IN
THE SYSTEM.

Re: System Inspection Site Report for:
12 & 18 Chelsie Lane, Town of Queensbury, NY
(Site Address)
As requested, the Town of Queensbury's Building and Code Enforcement Department
has made an inspection of the wastewater system components serving the property referenced
above. All system components have been found, and are noted in the System Inspections
Findings Worksheet.
Inspector's observations:
The system appears to have functioned adequately under past and present loading.
There can be no assurance or guarantee of future performance for any period of time.
Numerous factors, such as household water usage, leaking toilets, soil characteristics and
seasonal ground water table fluctuation, as well as owner failure to manage and maintain the
system, will affect its performance.
This approval is valid for five (5) years from20 August 2024, the date of the inspection.
Sincerely,
A
John O'Brien, Director
Budding & Codes Enforcement
