January 27, 1993 Richard Hackenburg, Manager Glens Falls Country Club Round Pond Road Queensbury, New York 12804 Dear Mr. Hackenburg: This letter is in reference to our visit on January 13, 1993 at which time we discussed the renovations to the Pro- shop Locker Room, back storage building. After further review of the New York State Uniform Building Code with Consultation of Joseph, McGrath, Codes Division. We will classify this building as a "C5 . 1" Public Assembly establishment by definition of the New York State Uniform Building Code with an accessory back storage and Pro Shop facility. Because of those classifications there is a one (1) hour fire separation required between the back storage area and the locker room pro shop area. What this basically means is you must provide one ( 1) layer of five eights type X gypson board to both sides of the wall on the first and second story of the locker room. This would also mean that the basement wall that addresses the bag storage area would have to be provided with three quarter hour (3/4) fire doors with self closers and in any openings in the firewall would either have to be sealed or provided with doors or accesses that meet the three quarter hour (3/4) fire rating with closers . Regarding the second floor at the Pro Shop, Group C5 . 1 Occupancies are limited to one ( 1) story in height in type 5 construction and therefore would not allow the second story of the Pro Shop unless a variance is obtained from the New York State Board of Review. Therefore, all construction on the second floor Pro Shop must cease until a variance is received, otherwise the second floor must be removed. Please bare in mind we have no plans for the Pro Shop Addition or the Mezzanine on the Bag Storage Area. We also w_'211 need a final electrical inspection on all wiring to be done throughout this building as well as the cart storage building and a plumbing, framing, insulation and final inspection will be required on the locker room pro shop area. We also need a letter regarding the ventilation of the cart storage building; due to the fact that the electrical code calls for explosive proof wiring unless the ventilation of the cart storage building is adequate as not to allow a build up of battery fumes 1 "HOME OF NATURAL BEAUTY. . . A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE" SETTLED 1763 while the carts are being charged. A letter from your engineer stating that he has done some calculations and can prove that there is enough air exchange in the building, not to allow fumes to build up; this will negate the fact for the explosive proof wiring. If not, explosive proof wiring will have to be installed. We also request that you provide emergency lights and exit lights in this locker room and storage area over all exit doors and emergency lights that will light up the exit doors .
