THE CHIEF OF POLICE ADDRESSED THE TOWN BOARD AT OUR REGULAR MEETING LAST WEEK IN REGARDS TO SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR A GRANT , AT THAT TIME THE BOARD FELT IT WOULD LIKE MORE TIME TO DISCUSS THE APPLICATION WITH THE CHIEF. THE CHIEF HAS DISCUSSED THE APPLICATION WITH THE BOARD AND ANSWERED THEIR QUESTIONS. RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE POLICE CHIEF C . CHASE TOWN CLERK C TOWN OF QUEENSBURY 212 RESOLUTION TO REQUEST DESIGNATION OF POLLING PLACES FOR VOTER REGISTRATION RESOLUTION NO. 172, introduced by Mr. Eisenhart who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Morrell. WHEREAS, the Warren County Board of Elections has informed the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury of its interest in and intent to limit to two the number of polling places in the Town of Queensbury for the registration of voters on October 9 and October 11, 1980 and WHEREAS, the Warren County Board of Elections has indicated to the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury that in view of the widespread use and acceptance of voter registration by mail, the number of voters registering at polling places will be minimal, and WHEREAS, the Warren County Board of Elections has indicated that it believes that it would be a waste of resources to provide polling places for voter registration in each of the elction districts and WHEREAS, the Town Board has been requested to consider the two locations for polling places for voter registration to be designated as the Queensbury Town Office Building and the Warren County Municipal Center, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has been informed by the Town Counsel that the Warren County Board of Elections is empowered by virtue of the provisions of Election Law Section 5-202 (5) to provide that a single place and a single board of inspectors shall be used for making the local registration of two or more election districts provided that the Board of Elections shall find that more than one-half of the anticipated regis- trants are already registered permanently with notice of such designation by the Board of Elections to be published with the list of registration places and that the Board of Elec- tions must cause notice of such designations with the loca- tion of the registration place designated for election dis- tricts to be posted in five conspicuous public places within each affected election district within the town, and WHEREAS, it would appear that providing for three designated places for voter registration would be sufficient to more that adequately serve the public convenience for voter regis- tration and would result in a monetary saving, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board approve the designation of three polling places in the Town of Queensbury for voter registration on October 9th and 11th, 1980 with four election inspectors to be chosen by the Warren County Board of Elections for each polling place so designated and be it further RESOLVED, that said three polling places be the N©othhQueens- bury Firehouse, the Queensbury Town Office Building and the J West Glens Falls Firehouse.
