MR. SMITH- ASKED WHEN THE RESIDENTS CAN EXPECT A RESPONSE TO THE
PETITION?
q1PFR\/Tc:znR AITFR- SINCE THE TRAGEDY OCCURED , YOU PEOPLE HAVE GONE
OUT AND COLLECTED SIGNATURES, I DO CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR EFFORTS ,
IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME ESPECIALLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE THAT
WERE INVOLVED. . . . I WOULD RESPOND TO YOU BY SAYING THAT THE BOARD HAS
NOT MET, YOU WILL HAVE TO GIVE US TIME TO DISCUSS IT BECAUSE IT IS
A BOARD DECISION. I WILL TELL YOU SINCE I WAS CONTACTED BY MR. SMITH ,
I HAVE TALKED WITH THE POLICE CHIEF REGARDING REGULATIONS ALONG
AVIATION ROAD, I HAVE TALKED WITH THE HIGHWAY SUPT. , I HAVE TALKED
WITH THE COUNTY DPW HEAD MR. AUSTIN,, WE HAVE CONTACTED THE TRAFFIC
SAFETY BOARD AND WE HAVE TALKED WITH HARRY HANSEN WHO IS OUR RECREATION {
DIRECTOR. MR. HANSEN IS LOOKING INTO WHAT FUNDING WE COULD GET FOR
A BIKE WAY AND HOW WE COULD TIE INTO THE COUNTY BIKE TRAIL. THOSE
ARE THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE DONE , SOME OF THE ANSWER WE ARE WAITING
FOR. WE WILL BE DEALING WITH PROFESSIONAL OPINION AS TO HOW WE
SHOULD PROCEED. . . WE HAVE SOME POTENTIAL PROBLEMS IN OTHER AREAS OF
THE TOWN THAT WE ALSO MUST RESPOND TO . . . YOU WILL RECEIVE AN ANSWER
JUST AS SOON AS WE CAN GATHER THE INFORMATION AND TO DO WHAT WE CAN
DO , WE WILL DO IT. THE BIGGEST CONSTRAINT OF ALL OF US IS BUDGETARY
WE DO HAVE A BUDGET THAT WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH , IN OUR BUDGET 'EMI's! YEAR
I COULD FIND NOTHING THAT WOULD COMPARE TO AN ESTIMATE THAT MR. GEALT
INDICATED WHICH WAS OFF THE TOP OF HIS HEAD. THAT WE WOULD HAVE ANY
KINDS OF MONEY TO EVEN BEGIN SUCH A PROJECT. . . .NOTED THAT WE ARE WORKING
ON NEXT YEARS BUDGET, IN THE MEAN TIME IF WE CAN FIND SOME FUNDING ,
IF WE HAVE TO LOOK INTO ADDITIONAL TAXATION , WHAT EVER WE CAN DO ON MY
OWN ACCOUNT I WILL ASSURE YOU THAT IT WILL BE DONE .

THAT SOMETHING IS GOING TO BE DONE . . . REVIEWED THE SIZE OF GLENWOOD
AVENUE SINCE IT WAS REPAVED. . . I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE TRAFFIC ON GLENWOOD
AVENUE IS SLOWER BECAUSE THE LINES ARE THERE , THE PEOPLE ARE AWARE
THAT THERE MAY BE SOMEONE JOGGING OR BIKING. . . IT COSTS APPROXIMATELY
$20, 000 DOLLARS A MILE FOR A ROAD IF YOU TAKE JUST ONE SIDE OF AVIATION
ROAD AT 1 . 3 MILES FOUR FEET WIDE WHICH IS ONE FOURTH OF WHAT A NORMAL
ROAD WOULD BE YOU ARE TALKING FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS JUST TO PAVE ONE
SIDE OF AVIATION ROAD. . . I DO NOT THINK THAT THE COST FACTOR IS GOING
TO BE THAT BIG OF A PROBLEM. . . —i

SUPERVISOR WALTER- WE WILL HOLD BUDGET MEETINGS IN THE FALL . . . I WOULD
LIKE TO RELY ON THE PROFESSIONALS , PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH --
THESE KINDS OF PROJECTS TO GET A COST ESTIMATE . . . IF IT IS A TEN THOUSAND
DOLLAR PROJECT THEN I THINK WE COULD FIND SOME WAY TO DO SOMETHING BUT I
REALLY RIGHT THIS MINUTE DO NOT FEEL IT IS A TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT
WITH THE PEOPLE THAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO. . . .NOTED THAT ALL THE INFORMATION
