Re: Wardle—2 Knolls Drive—Replacement Septic System
Dear Dave:
On April 29, 2010, we performed a deep soil test pit and percolation test at the Wardle residence
located at 2 Knolls Drive in Queensbury. The tests were performed to the northeast of the existing
residence in the location where construction of a replacement leach field is proposed. The current
residence has an existing failed septic system which will be decommissioned upon completion and
certification of the replacement system.
The results of the testing are as follows:

0 —4" Tosoil Stabilization percolation rate - 1" in 5 min., 53 sec.
4 — 18" Loamy Silty Sand
18—63" Silty Sand with trace Clay
Mottling observed at 26"
Groundwater observed at 53"
The 12 inch deep hole was presoaked and the test was run 7 times; at a depth of 24 inches, until it
stabilized with three consecutive runs of 5:07, 5:31 and 5:53 respectively.
The design flow for this 5 bedroom residence at 110 gpd per bedroom (550 gpd design flow),
requires 688 sf of absorption bed. The replacement absorption system should be constructed as a
shallow bed system and shall be no deeper than 4 inches into the existing soil. The absorption
system will consist of the a new 1,500 gallon septic tank, a new pump station w/ force main, a new
distribution box and 20 ft wide by 35 ft long absorption bed with 4 — 30 foot long absorption
laterals located to the northeast of the existing residence.
