Reinf holes drilled in roof
trusses - bott . chords
In reviewing the plans & photos of the holes referred to in the
. above reference - I observe the following:
1 . The 3/4" singlelhole drilled in the bottom chord of the -
"A" Type Truss - it is my considerd judgement that the
small size of the hole in proportion to the double-2x6
that there will be no apparent cause for concern - as
these members are are in tension (I would remove wire
from the holes for ease of access to wiring in attic -
for any future work anticipated: .
2 . The 3/4" & other holes drilled in the 2x4 bottom chords of the
,roof trusses should be reinforced with min. of 9" each side
of hole extremities with min. 31" x 18" pieces of 2"
CDX Plywood gussetts - glued .& screwed to each side.
(All wiring removed from holes - and stapled to top of .
truss chords . - supported by min Tx3 furring)
3 . The broken vertical member 5-6 on the Type "D" truss - should
be reinforced by glue & screwing a 2x4 each side of broken
member. (only action on member should be compression. )

We at Harvest Homes received recommendations made by George
Kurosaka Jr. , P.F.- , a licensed professional engin?er , to repair
trusses for the Westwood Condominiums at 57 Cascade Court,
Queensbury, New York.
These recommendations were dated and submitted on November 8,
1994 to the town of Queensbury and referred to holes drilled in
trusses and broken vertical members. We find them to be
acceptable remedies .
