GENERAL SANITARY NOTES:

TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WITHOUT PERIODIC MAINTENANCE. OUTLET PIPE SHALL BE INSPECTED. BAFFLES/TEES THAT HAVE DETERIORATED AND NO LONGER PERFORM
AS DESIGNED MUST BE REPLACED. CRACKED OR BROKEN LINES MUST BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED.
INADEQUATE SEPTIC TANK MAINTENANCE CAN RESULT IN CLOGGING OF THE TANK AND SEWAGE

THE HOMEOWNER OR A QUALIFIED SEPTAGE HAULER. THE AMOUNT OF BUILD UP NOTED AT EACH
INSPECTION SHALL BE RECORDED AND MAINTAINED IN A RECORD BOOK. THE TANK SHALL BE PUMPED
WHENEVER THE BOTTOM OF THE SCUM LAYER IS WITHIN THREE INCHED OF THE BOTTOM OF THE OUTLET
BAFFLE OR SANITARY TEE.
MOST TANKS SHOULD BE PUMPED EVERY TWO OR THREE YEARS
ANY COMPANY EMPLOYED TO CLEAN AND SERVICE THE SEPTIC TANK AND SYSTEM MUST BE A
D.E.C. PERMITTED SEPTAGE HAULER. SEPTIC TANKS SHOULD NOT BE WASHED OR DISINFECTED AFTER
BEING PUMPED OUT.
SEPTIC TANK ADDITIVES SHALL NOT BE USED IN THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. ADDITIVES ARE UNNECESSARY FOR THE
PROPER OPERATION OF 1HE HOUSEHOLD SYSTEMS AND MAY CAUSE THE SLUDGE AND SCUM IN THE SEPTIC
TANK TO BE DISCHARGED INTO THE ABSORPTION FIELD RESULTING IN PREMATURE FAILURE.

THIS SITE WILL REQUIRE THE DESIGN AND INSTITUTION OF AN AMSTERDAM MOUND
SYSIEN FOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL. THE DESIGN IS BASED ON THE CONDITIONS FOUND
AT 111E SITE, WITH VIRTUALLY ZERO PERCOLATION IN THE TOP FOOT ON INSITU MATERIAL.
THE FINAL MATERIAL FOR 1111S SITE MUST HAVE A STABILIZED PERCOLATION
RATE OF 1" IN 5 MINUTES TO 1" IN 10 MINUTES
THE SOURCE OF FILL MATERIAL MUST BE PROVIDED 1'0 IIIE ARCHITECT
PRIOR TO IMPORTING THE MATERIAL ONTO THE SITE. AT LEAST ONE PERCOLATION TEST
SHALL BE CONDUCTED IN THE INSITU FILL MATERIAL AT INE BORROW
PIT l0 GIVE AN INDICATION OF THE EVENTUAL STABILIZED PERCOLATION RATE,

UPON STABILIZATION OF THE FILL, AND PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE ABSORPTION TRENCHES
A MINIMUM OF 2 PERCOLATION TESTS IN THE
STABILIZED FILL MATERIAL. IF 1HE RATE OF THE SLOWEST PERCOLATION TEST IS WITHIN THE
TOLERANCES SPECIFIED
UPON COMPLETION OF THE INSTALLATION OF THE ABSORPTION TRENCHES, AND PRIOR TO
BACK FILLING THE CONTRACTOR MUST NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT THAT THE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETED
THE ARCHITECT WILL TTIE14 PERFORM AN INSPECTION OF THE INSTALLATION, AND TAKE TIES FOR
AS -BUILT DRAWINGS.
UPON ACCEPTANCE BY THE ARCHITECT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BACK FILL THE TRENCHES
AND THEN APPLY THE TOPSOIL TO THE SYSTEM AS DESCRIBED BELOW SEEDING BY HAND OR
HYDROSEED MIXTURE MUST BE PERFORMED WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS OF THE COMPLETION OF THE
TOPSOIL, AND THE AREA MULCHED.
REPLACEMENT SOIL CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
PREPARATION OF THE SITE ON WHICH THE FILL IS TO BE LOCATED AND PLACEMENT OF FILL
ON THE SITE ARE CRITICAL TO PROPER OPERATION OF THE ABSORPTION SYSTEM.
CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO ASSURE THAT CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES DO NOT
COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE SYSTEM. HEAVY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT MUST
NOT BE ALLOWED WITHIN THE AREA OF THE SYSTEM.
ALL TREES AND STUMPS SHALL BE CUT AT GRADE AND REMOVED. OTHER VEGETATION
(I.E. BRUSH, VINES, WEEDS,GRASS) SHALL BE CUT AS CLOSE TO GRADE AS POSSIBLE AND
REMOVED. ALL LEAVES LIMBS AND BOULDERS ABOVE GRADE SHALL ALSO BE REMOVED.
ROOT STRUCTURE BELOW GRADE SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED ROTOTILLING OR SCARIFICATION
WITH CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT IS NOT RECOMMENDED. THF UNDERLYING SOIL SHALL BE
UNDISTURBED, THE SURFACE MAY BE PLOWED WITH AT LEAtiT A TWO BOTTOM PLOW,
WITH THE FURROW TURNED UPSLOPE.
AFTER THE SITE HAS BEEN CLEARED AND PLOWED, ALL TRAFFIC SHALL BE EXCLUDED
FILL MATERIAL CAN BE DEPOSITED ON THE SITE WITH A FRONT END LOADER OR
PUSHED FROM THE SIDE, PREFERABLY THE UPSLOPE SIDE USING A TRACK TYPE
MACHINE WITH AT LEAST 6 INCHES OF FILL BE14EATH THE TRACKS. AT NO TIME SHALL
RUTS BE MADE IN THE PLOWED AREA.
FILL SHOULD PLACED ON THE SITE IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT IS PREPARED TO AVOID
UNDESIRABLE CHANGES TO THE NATIVE SOIL ( I.E. TRAFFIC COMPACTION OR EROSION ETC.)
THE FILL SHALL BE STABILIZED AS DESCRIBED UNDER DESIGN CRITERIA ABOVE. AFTER
STABILIZATION THE ABSORPTION TRENCH SYSTEM SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED AS NOTED
IN THE DESIGN CRITERIA.
AFTER THE ABSORPTION TRENCHES HAVE BEEN CONSIRUCIED INSPECTED AND BACK FILLED
THE ENTIRE SURFACE AREA OF THE ABSORPTION SYSTEM INCLUDING TAPERS SHALL BE COVERED
WITH A MINIMUM OF 6" OF TOPSOIL MOUNDED TO ENHANCE RUNOFF AS SHOWN ON THE
GRADING PLAN, AND SEEDED TO GRASS WITH HAY MULCH APPLIED AS WELL.
DIVERSION DITCHES AS INDICATED ON THE GRADING PLAN SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED UPHILL
