Our soils test pit on this lot showed the soils to be gravelly, loamy sand underlain by sand and gravel. No indication of mottling was noted. This afternoon I made a brief inspection of the soils exposed by the foundation excavation which confirmed our previous test pit. Based upon the above, I do not believe that it is necessary to.install a foundation drain for this house. Please note that the above does not necessarily apply to all lots in this subdivision. Our original test pits on the lots at the end of the cul-de-sac encountered mottling as shallow as 5 feet.
