Melbeta Hill of Tuckaway Trailer Park So. Glens Falls , N.Y. to locate a mobile home on Wisconsin Avenue on property owned by Rodney and Gloria Hill-Mr. Hill was present. . . ltr. read. . . Tuckaway Trailer Park Saratoga Road South Glens Falls, N.Y. June 19 , 1975 Queensbury Town Boprd Members Queensbury Office Building Bay Road Glens Falls, N.Y. , 12801 Gentlemen: On my first application for a mobile home permit I did not explain in detail my situation. Possibly the reason it was denied so quickly was because you did not understand the whole case. Since my husband died in 1964 the Urban Renewal has compelled me to move twice from the apartments I was renting; in Glens Falls, I didn't have the means to buy a home so I bought a mobile home in October, 1971 which I am still making payments on at the present time. At the time I looked into moving it into Homestead Village on Luzerne Road and also into Slopey' s Trailer Park, both in the Town of Queensbury, but their rent was so high that I finally settled on a lot in Tuckaway Trailer Park in South Glens Falls ,because it was less expensive. Now, with the rent here going up and my pay going down due to my working hours being cut because of lack of work', I can no longer stay here. My son, Rodney Hill , bought three lots on Wisconsin Avenue with plans to move my mobile home there. The previous owner' s daughter had already been issued a mobile home permit for this land so he was not expe-.cting any problem with my getting one for the same land. Now he is making payments to the Glens Falls National Bank on a personal loan which he acquired from there to pay for the land, this land being of no use to him other than for my trailer. He, along with my other children, have •been helping me for the past few months, especially through the winter. .He planned .to buy the land and take care of the taxes and other expenses on it for me so that I could get out from under this monthly rent. With this bank payment he isn't able to continue helping in other ways as he was, such as trailer. maintenance, car maintenance , ett. My son owns a home on Luzerne Road," corner of Massachusetts Avenue in the Town of Queensbury. This is only a few blocks from Wisconsin Avenue and would be much closer and better when I need him in cases such as when my car won't start in the winter or when it snows and the driveway needs cleaning, or anytime something goes wrong with the trailer so that I need his help. As you can see from these circumstances , a mobile home permit would take care of a good share of our problems. I do not understand a denial since all the ` pvople around there do not object and have indicated so on the attached petition. I hope, after hearing the whole situation you will reconsider and grant a permit. a Sincerely, /s/ Melbeta Hill Petition submitted in favor of the mobile home. . . Mr:: Hill Mrs. Hill' s son spoke for his mother noting the support of the neighbors and that no object' one_ Piave b'eent heard. . . Councilman Robillard -noted that he had voted to deny the hearing before but now he has spaken with Mr. Hill and he has seen a petition signed by some 150 people an.d'uisited``the site, I know why she wants to move to Queens- , bury and I admire her son for helping his mother in that situation I Tt would move to hold a hearing July 22 , 1975, thus giving the people the right to have the hearing to determine if the town board will issue a permit. . . I am not apologizing for rfty stance on mobile homes, I now see a justified hardship in this case. . . Councilman Olsnn-also noted he would approve ofa hearing. . . Councilman Robertson-would vote for hearing. . .
