Letter January 16, 1974
Mr. John Austin, Supervisor
Town of Queensbury
Queensbury Town Office Building

Glens Falls, N.Y. 12801
Dear Mr. Austin:
May I refer to your letter of December 6, 1973 concerning the
availability of State aid for weed control programs. To my knowledge
there are no programs for cost sharing projects of this type. However,
the Town Attorney may want to explore the use of tax monies fvom: a
water or lake district if Glen Lake is part of a potable water supply.
Because of the number of lakes and the frequently high algal weed problems
within the State of New York, this Department can' t become financially
involved with weed and algae control projects. We can on unique occasions
direct our aquatic weed control specialist to visit the Lake and make
some general recommendations. However, the optimum time for such a visit,
late spring, would preclude any benefit from being accrued during this
year.
Respectfully yours ,

Letter
January 23, 1974
Mr. John Austin
Supervisor, Town of Queensbury
Bay Road
Glens Falls , New York 12801
Dear John:
It was with great pleasure that the members of this fire
company noted that there is some more possible commercial
expansion in the Town of Queensbury. As you can guess, --
we are referring to the possibility that Pyramid Mall
Corporation will build a new facility in this area.
It is the opinion of this fire company that it would be
advantageous for the Town Board to require all future
commercial developments in the Town of Queensbury to
conform to existing and future parking ordinances before
approval is given to their construction plans. This
would certainly help all of the fire companies provide
better fire protection to the stores as you know illegally
parked cars can be a fantastic hindrance to the fire
trucks gaining access co the building.
Another thought would be that we would certainly appreciate
knowing about all commercial applications for building
permits in our boundaries so that, if necessary, we could
have a representative at the proper meetings to express
our opinions as regards the fire hazards and/or safety
suggestions necessary to provide good fire protection.
If you have any comments concerning these subjects, John,
I would certainly appreciate hearing them.
Sincerely yours,
/s/
