The existing septic tank is approximately 12-16" below existing grade to the lid of the tank and the tank appears to be in good condition, we recommend installation of new outlet piping with gas baffle during the system replacement. Due to existing grade in the area of the proposed tile field being higher than the area where the septic tank is located we recommend the installation of an effluent chamber and pump to lift the effluent up to the new tile field to avoid the field being too deep into the ground. Our observation of the deep hole excavation revealed the following soil conditions; • 0-8 inches Topsoil • 8-18 inches Dark brown sandy gravel with boulders • 18-46 inches Medium brown/reddish sand • 46-64 inches Light brown medium sand tightly packed No mottling observed No groundwater encountered No roots below the grass root line Percolation tests were performed in two locations in the area where the proposed tile field will be located. Test results are as follows; PT-1: 1-03", 1-07", 1'-11", 1'-18", 1'-21" PT-2: 2'-31", 2'-40", 2'-45", 2'-50", 2'-52" Both tests were performed at 22" to 24" below existing grade. Percolation application rate for 1-5 min soil is 1.2 gpolsf. 390 gpd divided by 1.2 gpd\sf equals 325 sf of tile field required. Use 4 laterals at 45'-0" in length which yields 360 sf of new disposal area. Utilize new 500 gal. effluent chamber with 1/3 horse effluent pump with high water shut-off solenoid switch connected to well pump so that if effluent level reaches a high water alarm level the well pump will be shut off until the high water alarm has been cleared.
