Dear John:
April 21-27 has been designated as National Volunteer
Week, making the first time the entire nation is being en-
couraged to say "thank you" to the millions of men, women
and young people who give countless hours to the betterment
of their community and extend a helping hand to others . .
The local newspapers will be featuring volunteers in
pictures and articles this week, recognizing the contribution
of volunteers in the local area.
We, in the Queensbury area, are lucky to have so many
people who give so freely of their time in volunteer work.
For instance, consider the number of volunteers involved in
advisory boards within the town government.
We would appreciate any assistance you might give us in
helping the public to be more aware of the tremendous contri-
bution that volunteers make to the betterment of our life in
the Town of Queensbury.
Sincerely,
/s/
Gertrude VanDusen
Volunteer Coordinator
Supervisor Austin: Thanked all volunteer groups in the town for their

Dear John:
Many thanks for your recent letter concerning the experience
of the Town of Queensbury in dealing with the Adirondack Park
Agency.
You are really to be commended for the concise manner in
which you set forth the information, and I have taken the liberty
of forwarding copies to the legislative leadership, with comments of
my own, as well as to other members of the Legislature.
As I indicated in Indian Lake, legislators frequently inquire
9
as to how the legislation is working--your comments will be most
helfful in answering that question.
Best regards.
Sincerely yours ,
