Gentlemen:
I have received a copy of your recent Resolution No. 112 expressing
opposition to our acquisition proposal, as it presently is. planned,
for the preservation of the Dunham Bay Wetlands.
The original proposal of the Nature Conservancy for wetlands purchase
did not include all the watered areas, nor did it consider the adjacent
upland necessary for access and to preserve the integrity of the wet-
land itself. These two prime concerns account for the additional acre-
age we propose for purchase, Without these lands, the important values
associated with Dunham Bay Wetlands can not be preserved.
If- the Board has specific concerns for the lands proposed for purchase,
I invite you to communicate them to our regional staff.
Sincerely,
/s/
