Director of Building&Code Enforcement 2115113 Dear Mr. Hatin; While rehabilitating my mother's house, I discovered thousands of dead bats and their feces along with mice in the ceiling and walls off the rear part of the house. It had permeated the wood to such extent that it had to be removed. 1 chased the rot and bat remains and ended up tearing a large amount of the bedrooms area and windows out. 1 replaced to the same footprint. I did use 2 by 6 material where there had been only 2 x 4, the new windows are insulated instead of the single pane ones that were there and I am appropriatly insulating the walls where there was little or no insulation before. The house is now bat and vermin free and much improved. I did not think about a permit as it was not my intention to remove as much of the house as I did. I now ask to finish the project.
