STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN The original stormwater management system utilizes infiltration basins located at the front and side of the site with stone drip edges for the building rooftops. To accommodate the building addition, the smaller basin located at the front of the site will be removed along with the adjacent parking lot that was contributing runoff to the basin. A new basin will be installed with equivalent capacity and will provide storage for runoff generated from the southern half of the warehouse building addition rooftop. The northern half of rooftop will be conveyed to stone drip edge for smaller stornl events and will overflow into catch basins that outlet into the existing basin. The proposed building addition will expand the total drainage area flowing to the main basin from 1.7± acres to 1.9�:L acres. The original basin design was conservative and exceeded the capacity required. No further changes to the main basin area necessary. ANALYSIS The Hydrocad TR-20 method was used to calculate the pre and post-development peak runoff rates. Calculations are presented for both conditions in Appendix C. Due to sandy soils, all runoff infiltrates and there is no offsite discharge. In the pre-development condition, there are two drainage areas, Area 1 and Area ABD Engineers,LLP 1 Stormwater Management Report Amendment 4857,4-Drainage Summary Northeastern Power Systems,Inc. 2. Area 1 is 1.7± acres and consists of building rooftop, asphalt pavement, and grass. The peal-,discharge rates for the 1, 10, and 100-year storm events are 0.10±cfs, 1.72±cfs, and 6.02±cfs respectively. The required 100-year storage volume is 4,437± cubic feet and the basin provides 7,167± cubic feet up to elevation 382. Area 2 is 0.4± acres and consists of asphalt pavement and grass. The peak discharge rates for the 1, 10, and 100-year storm events are 0.06± cfs, 0.47±cfs, and 1.45±cfs respectively. The required 100-year storage volume is 1,112± cubic feet and the basin provides 1,236± cubic feet. In the post-development condition, there are two drainage areas, Area 1 and Area 2. Area 1 is increased to 1.9± acres and consists of building rooftop, asphalt pavement, and grass. The peak discharge rates for the 1, 10, and 100-year stone events are 0.51±cfs, 2.92±cfs, and 8.42± cfs respectively. The required 100-year storage volume is 6,793± cubic feet and the basin provides 7,167± cubic feet up to elevation 382. The peak elevation for the 100-year storm event rises from 381.62 in the pre- development condition to 381.95 and will remain within the basin. There is additional storage above elevation 3 82 up towards the pavement,but was not considered in the calculation to be conservative. Area 2 is 0.2± acres and consists of building rooftop and grass. The peak discharge rates for the 1, 10, and 100-year storm events are 0.09±cfs, 0.37± cfs, and 0.97±cfs respectively. The required 100-year storage volume is 778± cubic feet and the drip edge and basin provides 995 cubic feet. SUMMARY The stormwater runoff will be handled by infiltration and there will be no increase in discharge from the site. The proposed stormwater management plan will serve the needs of the project and the Town of Queensbury. The drainage system as designed will function adequately and will not adversely affect adjacent or downstream properties. Thomas C. Andress, P.E.
