To whom if may concern Zoning and Planning Office,
I have a residence at 55 Mason Rd in the town of Queensbury. Where my property is
there has been a history of heavy winds that blow off the lake west to east. The winds
have snapped or downed many large trees in the surrounding area over the gears,
Recently iarge parts of Queensbury suffered serious power outages due to downed trees
and powerlines when just such a storm passed through.
On the south west side of my property I have several very large and very tall white pine
trees, in exoess of 100 feet, around the home that are very close to the home, in some
cases also leaning towards the home. These trees have reached maturity and are
overhanging my beach, patio, deck and the home itself. The trees have last their lower
limbs over 75% of the height so there is realty nothing but°crown° left, There is no "Visual
barrierA provided by these trees between the lake and my home.
I feel these trees, although mostly healthy looking, being white pines with a very shallow
root system, these trees pose an immediate threat to my property and more importantly
to my family, It is any intent to remove the trees I feel would most Iikely to cause damage
to my property and/or my farnily should they be blown over or fail over in a high wind c
storm.
I want to be in compliance with the zoning laws for our township and since three of the
trees are within 35 feet of the high water mark for Lake George, I am asking for the town's
approval to remove those three (plus three others see sketch; circle with X represents
trees to be removed) before a disaster happens.
This is a residence and not commercial. There is no new construction or changes to old
construction. We will not be grinding or excavating the stumps so there will be no
disturbance to the soil and no increased erosion. I will re-plant 4 to 5 native conifers v to
6 feet tall in the same area after the old trees are removed.
In the same area that these pine trees are to be removed, there are 6 or 6 hemlocks that
will remain. In add ion, at the very front edge of the property there is a huge Oak tree
thatwilI remain, as well as a clump of shag-bark birch trees which now provide the visual
barrier.
Please see the folly Wng pages of photos that show the view of my home from the lake,
the trees in question, and a couple views of the surrounding.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter,
Sincerely,
Michael J. Badera

As you can see, the red-circled tree tops are towering more than twice the height of the
house end provide no visual barrier. There is a lot of other vegetation to include two Iarge
oak trees and two clumps of shag bark birch as well as many hemlock trees which will all
remain.
