LaPoint, PE) was contacted on behalf of the owner (Ed Daily) to perform an engineering assessment and provide recommendations for moving forward. 1. The structure is a one story single family wood framed residence built in 1974. The home has been extensively damaged by a dryer fire. 2. The engineer recommends the following repairs: 1. Replace and change the existing electrical system with a 200 amp service with 40 individual circuits. 2. Install hard wired inter-connected smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with battery back-ups in each bedroom, hallway, and basement. 3. Spray and seal all exposed lumber. 4. Install a new triple 2 x 10 inch floor girder under the master bedroom. 5. Install a new high efficiency gas hot air furnace and duct work. 6. Install a new high efficiency insulated electric hot water heater. 7. Install a new high efficiency central air conditioner. 8. Remove and replace the wall framing and stud partitions in the damaged bedroom #2. 9. Remove and replace the entire roof system including rafters, ridge beam, collar ties, sheeting, felt, shingles, proper vents, and snow and ice shield. 6 Install high density R-19 and R-38 in walls and ceiling respectively.
