Gentlemen: I am pleased to report that this department has completed -- work on the Dixon Road water main extension. This project consisted of the installation of 24001 feet of 12 inch ductile iron pipe and appurtenances between Prospect ' Drive and Aviation Road and 1521 feet of 6 inch cast iron pipe to tie in Midnight Drive and Poplar Drive. The estimated cost of construction of this project was $30,000. 00. The actual cost incurred by this department, including material, equip- ment and labor plus 25% amounted to $23 ,298.00. There were 16 working days involved. During days of pipe installa- tion the average footage was 300 feet per day. The cost of 12 inch ductile pipe per foot installed was $7. 92 and the cost of 6 inch cast iron pipe installed per foot was $11.32. The higher cost of the 6 inch pipe was due to the. additional time and work involved in the raod crossings and fittings for the tie ins to the existing mains on Midnight and Poplar Drives. The crew completing this work consisted of Robert Lilly, Claude White, David Coon and George (Bud) Carpenter under the direction of Mr. Lilly. The cooperation and enthusiaum of these men contributed largely to the supess of this project. Respectfully, /s/ Thomas K. Flaherty, CET Superintendent -Note the Town of Queensbury Call numbers will be changed from the 300 series to the 900 series all departments were notified. -Letter October 4, 1973 Queensbury Town Board ATT: John Austin, Supervisor RE: Lake George-Queensbury Gentlemen: We have reviewed your recent resolution regarding sewerage and are, in agreement with same. We recognize that municipal sewerage treatment is desirable if not a necessity for the area of our town on Lake George and all resonable effort should be made to provide this service. Routing the lines through our town along Route 9 and Quaker Road would provide a benefit base which should prove economical to the entire project. Any effort to keep the number of sewage treatment plants to a minimum will cut down on duplication of staffing and maintenance costs within the State. We therefore encourge the Town Board's efforts in this project and will assist any way we can. Very truly yours , JAN:dmd J.
