The foundation design does not require the footings to be pinned to the bedrock subgrade. All uplift forces imposed by the pre-engineered building system are designed to be resisted by the weights of the foundation elements and overlying soil backfill; additional uplift resistance from the underlying bedrock is not required. All lateral loads from the building will be resisted by the concrete cross-tie beams; adequate resistance to sliding of the footings on the bedrock surface will, therefore, also not occur. Schoder,PE- Schoder Rivers Associates(CBS) Lonny Chase -Owner(LC) James Shanahan-Applus RTD USA- Special Inspector(JS) David Akerley - Prefab Builders,Inc. - Erection contractor(DA) Field Construction Pro. : At the time our site visit, the following items were completed: • Building structural steel erected, except for the mandoor canopies. • Siding installed on the north, west and south walls, except for corner and edge trim. • Approx. 70%of the roof panels installed. The purpose of my site visit was to review the structural steel framing for the building concurrent with the steel bolting inspection being performed by JS. Summary of Observations and Discussions: I. Final erection drawings provided to our office by the building supplier did not include information regarding the required sizes and locations of the flange bracing members for the principal structural framing members. DA had a copy of the erection drawings on site with that information shown which was used in my review of the building framing. 2 Primary and secondary framing member sizes appeared to coincide with the erection drawing requirements. 3. All building columns were determined to be in substantially plumb alignment. 4. Flange bracing member sizes and locations appeared to coincide with the erection drawing requirements provided by DA. 5. Diagonal rod bracing member diameters and locations appeared to coincide with the erection drawing requirements. At Frame Line I in the bay between Frame Lines B&D, one of the diagonal '/2" diameter bracing rods was not tightened. CS requested that DA tighten this bracing rod and that all diagonal bracing rods be rechecked for tightness before the project is deemed complete. 6. Purlin roll-over bracing clips were installed at the locations indicated on the erection drawings at all roof beams. 7. JS noted that all framing connections and anchor bolts utilized bolt sizes and types as indicated on the erection drawings and that all bolts were properly tightened. 8. JS noted that a gap was present between the end plates at the bottom of the connection of the roof J&D Marina Boat Storage Building -Field Visit Memo November 30,2017 Page 2 SRA 15-903 beam to the column on Frame Line 4 at Column Location A4. He determined that this was a result of a warped roof beam end plate. The gap was approximately 1/8"wide between connection plates at the bottom of the connection. CS directed DA to loosen the bottom two bolts in the connection, insert±3/32"thick shim plates on each side of the bolts and retighten the bolts for full bearing of the end plates on the shims. CS will perform a final inspection during the week of 12/4/17 to review the installation of the canopy framing at the mandoors and any corrective measures required by the above comments. The building is a pre-engineered metal framed building fabricated by Star Building Systems*under their Job Number 15-8- 83606. Erection drawings E1 UwmQh E11 prepared by the building supplier dated 8J3W17 and sealed by Chris Lee Hickman, PE (NYS PE#095636)were used in our review of the building framing. Field visits were made by the undersigned on 111=17 and 1215117 to review the building framing and to identify work to be performed before the framing system is considered to be complete. Copies of Field Vrsit Memos for those dates are attached for information. Based on our site observations, it is our opinion that the building was erected in substantial accordance with the nx}uirerneft of the embon drawings and that the structural framing for the building is complete at this time. Schoder,PE Project: J&D Marina Boat Storage Building Project Number. 15-903 Distribution: Project file and Lonny Chase via email Attending. Carl B. Schoder,PE-Schoder Rivers Associates(CBS) Lonny Chase-Owner(LC) James Shanahan-Applus RTD USA-Special Inspector(JS) David Akerley-Prefab Builders,Inc.-Erection contractor(DA) Field Co on At the time our site visit, the following items were completed: • Building structural steel erected, except for the mandoor canopies. • Siding installed on the north, west and south walls, except for corner and edge trim. • Approx.70%of the roof panels installed. The purpose of my site visit was to renew the structural steel framing:For the building concurrent with the steel bolting inspection being performed by IS. Summary of Observations and Discussions: 1. Final erection drawings provided to our office by the building supplier did not include information regarding the required sizes and locations of the flange bracing members for the principal structural framing members. DA had a copy of the emiction drawings on site with that information shown which was used in my review of the building flaming. 2 Primary and secondary framing member sizes appeared to coincide with the erection drawing requirements. 3. All building columns were determined to be in substantially plumb alignment 4. Flange bracing member sizes and locations appeared to coincide with tyre erection drawing requirements provided by DA. 5. Diagonal rod bracing member diameters and locations appeared to coincide with the erection drawing requirements. At Frame Line I in the bay between Frame Lines B&D,one of the diagonal %"diarncw bracing rods was not tightened. CS requested that DA tight this bracing rad and that all diagonal bracing rods be red dwd for tightness before the project is deemed complete. 6. Purlin roll-over bracing clips were installed at the locations indicated on the erection drawings at all roof beams. 7. JS noted that all framing connections and angor bolts utilized bolt sizes and types as indicated on the erection drawings and that a l bolts were properly tightened. J&D Marina Boat Storage Building-Field Visit Memo November 30,2017 Page 2 SRA 15-903 8. JS noted that a gap was present between the end plates at the bottom of the connection of the roof beam to the column on Frame Line 4 at Column Location A4. He determined that this was a result of a warped roof beam end plate. The gap was approximately 1/8"wide between connection plates at the bottom of the connection. CS directed DA to loosen the bottom two bolts in the connection, insert*3132"thick shim plates on each side of the bolts and retighten the bolts for full bearing of the end plates on the shims. CS will perform a final inspection during the creek of 1214/17 to review the installation of the canopy framing at the mandoors and any corrective measures required by the above comments.
